This is what we are led to believe. Trump told aides he was eager to take questions Friday and hold a press conference to tout his accomplishments before leaving for Mar-a-Lago, but some advisers argued against it. His aides were concerned that if he held press conference, Trump might be besieged with questions concerning the Russian probe, Presidential pardons, Presidential firings, and obstruction of justice.

Then, we are told, Trump demurred. He held a small signing ceremony for the tax bill, then left town.

What a crock. We are supposed to believe that, for once, he listened to his advisors and did not do what he supposedly wanted to do? Does Trump think Americans are stupid? Trump gave orders to have that nonsense go out to the media because the very last thing he wants to do is hold a full-fledged press conference with the White House press corps.

Trump is willing to let the public believe that he cannot control his own press conference. He is willing to let the public believe that his aides and lawyers are very concerned about what he might say, and do not trust him on that score. Trump is willing to accept that indignity because he is scared to death to face reporters in the White House press room.

He only allows himself to be interviewed by Fox and Friends and Sean Hannity. Trump is a President who hides from the public, although he sometimes entertains limited questions from friendly reporters on the White House lawn with Marine One humming away in the background. In the loud environment listeners can't hear the questions and can barely hear Trump's answers over the roar. Trump is a control freak that way, and he knows it pisses everyone off.

Trump has held one press conference in the White House press room. It was in February. It is likely he will not hold another. That press conference was a disaster.

In contrast there are the two Presidents Trump trashes the most. George W. Bush held four his first year in office, Obama seven. Bill Clinton had eleven, while George H.W. Bush had 27.

Trump is not the least bit bashful. He is quite frightened at the prospect of facing reporters in an open setting. That is an indisputable fact.

No one associated with the WH will answer the vital question of when the prez learned Flynn had lied to the FBI. Sarah Sanders, who has elevated lying to an art form, keeps referring repeated questions from the press to Drumpf's attorney John Dowd. But Dowd also refuses to answer the question. It would be a simple matter for the WH to determine what the answer is if they wanted to. But they refuse.
One thing is for sure, Mueller is working on the answer and he will get it even if it requires him to compel sworn testimony he doesn't already have.

Trump and the White House are hiding from reporters. Something to think about when Trump holds his next news conference on the White House lawn with Marine One churning away and everyone has to shout, including the President. He has no idea how stupid he looks in that kind of scenario.

Maybe our Trump friends are coming around and recognizing their mistake. They seem to agree with my analysis. Their silence infers tacit agreement.

Reminds me of when Reagan used to keep a safe distance from reporters so he couldn't hear the questions................he didn't want to answer.

'silence infers tacit agreement'... a sentiment rivalled in its '=\=' only by the presumption that avoidance of 'the press' equates to guilt.

If I could stretch my money as far as you folks stretch logic, I wouldn't have to work another day in my life...

Trump quite rightly assumes that most of the reporters aren't really reporters at all, but rather mostly members of the feral left fake news outlets. So why entertaining the enemy's ridiculous questions that will be spun to make him look bad?

To hell with the white house press corps. If they want a story, they can follow his twitter feed.

Here are several reasons why Trump does not want to face reporters. He has dig himself a hole and he is just smart enough to know it.

He continues to criticize the FBI, saying the F.B.I.’s standing was now the “worst in history,” and it was in "tatters." In addition, like a small child, he is attacking individual members of the FBI, Strzok, Baker, and McCabe.

By extension, he is attacking Mueller who is leading the FBI investigation into the Russian matter. There is concern on the Hill in both parties that Trump would be stupid enough to fire Mueller. It wouldn't be the first time Trump did something rash.

Senator Mark Warner, vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee investigating Trump and his staff warned Trump there would be a price to pay if he fired Mueller. Warner called it a "Constitutional crisis," an euphemism for impeachment.

If Trump does not fire Mueller, the Democrats can claim they had a hand in that decision. If Trump does fire Mueller, the Democrats will be leading the charge to impeach him for obstruction of justice ... twice (Comey).

Put a another way, Trump has a big mouth and an itchy twitter finger.

Again, criticism without basis and absent any intelligent ideas. This is a common tactic with Trump fans who don't like what they just read, but can't offer any response.

And if you didn't allow the fake news to guide your every thought, you would recognize that you shouldn't be led to believe anything that they print it's all lies and misinformation.

For instance, Trump does listen to ALL of his advisors and then does what he thinks is best - even if he had already decided what he was going to do, anyone who tells you otherwise is fake news.

Who told you Trump didn't want to face reporters - the fake news? Why should Trump have to put up with the animosity the fake news has shown him by barrages of questions having little to nothing to do with reality - he can tweet his way around the fake news and not have to speak to people who hate him.

Why shouldn't Trump seek out interviewers who will treat him with a modicum of respect - why should he allow himself to put up with some moron asking leading questions meant to trap or embarrass him.

Why do you, as a poster, never give Trump the benefit of the doubt - that maybe he has done a few things worthy of praise, when instead you post a never ending barrage of insult and misinformation about him.

As much as I hated Obama, he was still my President.

Cutting out the relevent part of a post to make it easier to disregard is a common tactic of Trump haters who don't like what they just read, but can't offer any response.

You hit the nail right on the head. Amazing the accuracy Trump followers have with their statements as compared to their mentor. Trump feels the very same way. He has no desire to increase his support among Americans beyond his base. It is why he holds news conferences on the lawn instead of inside the White House.

    He just doesn't care.

Remind us how Hillary went over 8 months with out holding a news conference?

    Quit being a hypocrite

Hillary Clinton's campaign: 'We'll have a press conference when we want to have a press conference'
    By Callum Borchers

    July 28, 2016 at 8:56 PM

When is Hillary Clinton going to hold that long-awaited news conference — the first of 2016? Whenever she feels like it.

This has always been true, of course. The media can't force her into one. But the Democratic presidential nominee's campaign hasn't been quite so blunt about it.

    Until now.

"We'll have a press conference when we want to have a press conference," Clinton pollster Joel Benenson said on ABC News on Thursday evening.

Okay then. This is the Clinton campaign flaunting its control, reminding the media who calls the shots.

It is Clinton's prerogative to project a gruff, I'm-the-boss attitude, if she chooses, but it undermines her credibility when she says stuff like this:

Clinton is right about Donald Trump, of course. Just last night, The Washington Post's Jose DelReal was repeatedly denied access to a rally featuring Trump's running mate, Mike Pence. But Clinton can't argue effectively against Trump's poor treatment of journalists if her campaign is going to be unreasonably restrictive, too — and haughty on top of everything

Exactly, and that is what they do. What pisses you off and Trump is that reporters use the statements and tweets Trump makes, along with his decisions. You really hate that, so does Trump.

His tweets are infantile, moronic, untruthful, and self-defeating in terms of his legal problems. Then there are his legal problems, and Trump won't shut up. Trump has provided more evidence of his indiscretions than all other witnesses combined.

It's now wonder he will not face reporters. I can't believe you support him on this issue. Do you like a President who hides from the public? Do you like a President who is scared to death of reporters? Do you like a President who admits that he can't even control a Presidential press conference?

You like all this in a President?

    Amazing.

Allow me to repeat what you said.

And if you didn't allow the fake news to guide your every thought, you would recognize that you shouldn't be led to believe anything that they print it's all lies and misinformation!

His advisors, primarily Mattis and Tillerson, advised him not to name Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Mattis and Tillerson strongly support diplomacy with North Korea. Trump told "Rex" diplomacy was a waste of time. His lawyers advise against tweets related to investigations. Trump can't stop tweeting about the investigations. You really have no idea what you are talking about. You just make it up.

Who told me Trump doesn't want to face reporters? Trump did, of course. He hasn't held a Presidential press conference in the White House press room since February. You didn't know that? I told you in the OP. He faces reporters on the lawn with Marine One's blades churning away. What does that tell you or are too dense to figure that out?

"Why shouldn't Trump seek out interviewers who will treat him with a modicum of respect." Meaning he should face only those reporters who agree with him. You prefer a President who can't handle reporters in an open setting. Your expectations of a President are extremely low. Intelligent Americans prefer a President who is strong enough to face the scrutiny of the press, like Obama, Bush, Clinton and the rest, not a weak President who is frightened of the press.

"Why do you, as a poster, never give Trump the benefit of the doubt?" Respect is earned, not given. I can't possible respect a President who is afraid of the press and appears only on Fox and Friends.

Try to imagine how little I care what Hillary Clinton did or said. However, President Bill Clinton held eleven press conferences his first year in office.

You make my day. Thanks for the assist.
