The risks of climate change are extensive. Sea level rise could raise sea levels anywhere from 0.2 meters to 2.0 meters by 2100 and, given proper time, humans could still survive on the remaining land - although given the propensity of humans to live next to water, the effects will still be devastating. But if that land also becomes desert - as this study suggests - then the amount of devastation for humans and the currently existing plants and animals becomes even more dire.

And the planet continues to get hotter as 2017 is the hottest year on the record without an El Nino.

And yet another article about global.warming that offers nothing in the way of prevention, or science, or even answer basic questions avout the causes.

There is absolutely nothing that Humans can do to prevent the climate from changing.

All those words, to have nothing concrete to state seems like a waste of every ones time. Belongs in the fiction section.

Nothing in the 2014 summary answers my questions. Just vague guesses.

Let me know when you find a study that claims 100% certainty about what will happen in 30 years and I'll show you a study which is not scientific.

Setting aside that 95% confidence is not really "vague," a vague guess would still be an answer to your question.

I wouldn't bother, as no one can make such a prediction. I certainly wouldn't be trying to pilfer treasure from Nations fighting against said fiction.

But thanks for admitting that no one really knows. We agree.

Thats their claim but I saw nothing to support that but vague guesses. Even their chart claims population growth as the leading cause, not where my power comes from.

If you did not see anything to support their claim beyond vague guesses, then you went into the reading with the preconceived notion that they used vague guesses.

For example, we know that CO2 is a greenhouse gas and that it's concentration has risen dramatically in the last 100 years. We can also measure the isotopes of the CO2 and confirm that the vast majority of the new CO2 was created through combustion (as opposed to respiration or other potential sources).

None of that is a vague guess.

So what will the temperature be in 30 years without global warming?

So, what the Guardian is telling us is that prior to say 1500, a quarter of the word was arid? As we approach the previous temperatures common from that era, are they really saying that somehow this would be different? And if so, why? 4000 years ago, the Sahara was a bountiful savannah. And now it isn't. Explain that.

You put your stock in “could”.

Let me guess, you want to mandate (libs love to mandate) that my electric bill “necessarily skyrocket” (you God said that) right?

I forgot, what kind of car should I drive? I have a truck, a car, and my weekend toy motorcycle (see avatar) now and was wondering if that’s acceptable to you.

We are not approaching temperatures common to 1500 years ago. The Medieval Warming Period was largely localized to Europe.

As for the Sahara being a bountiful savannah 4000 years ago, I don't know that to be true, nor have I researched how to explain it. But I would be willing to bet that the change from bountiful savannah to desert did not take place in 50 years.

No, it's not acceptable to him or any other liberal for you to have those things. But if you look at them, they have all those things and more. They want YOU to sacrifice, but how often do you see them doing it?

What we dont know is the extent that the CO2 affecrs global warming. We dont know if that rising CO2 isnt more tied to depleated forested areas than your power bill.

And again, not a word on feasible ways to combat it.

I have no interest in mandating your personal consumption. It is an inefficient waste of time.

The mandates should go onto industries (which might affect you indirectly through increased cost or CAFE standards or whatnot) and towards encouraging new technological advances.
