Again an unarmed person poising no threat to the police was gunned down. In this instance a SWAT team responded to a pranking SWATting call and when the innocent person came out of his own home he was fatally shot. The reason was it is claimed he "reached for his waistband" - such as reaching for his wallet to provide his ID.

A jury just found an officer not guilty after he shot an unarmed man on the floor begging for his life, after he was unable to crawl towards the officer with his legs crossed as ordered and to not use his arms while doing so. Probably that skill should be taught in schools - how to be on your knees, arms up, and move across the floor with your legs crossed since failing to do so if commanded justifies summary execution.

The legal standard for government killings? Every person must be immediately ready to precisely do anything and not do anything anyone claiming to be the government says - and the slightest deviation is to be punished by immediately execution. At all times, day and night, awake or asleep, you MUST be ready to act with gymnastic precision exactly as ordered.

Yet no one is taught this. When were you taught that lack of instant compliance with anything anyone claiming to be police says is legal basis to empty a 15 round 9mm magazine into you? Have you been trained to crawl on your knees with your legs crossed? To refuse to reach for your ID if confronted by police?

Shouldn't it be REQUIRED education to teach children of the death penalty for lack of perfect compliance with the government/police? Shouldn't kids, probably starting in the first grade, be put thru drills - including surprise drills including individually? That randomly a teacher in the hallway would shout out a student's name and "POLICE! GET DOWN ON THE FLOOR! ARMS OUT! CROSS YOUR LEGS! CRAWL TOWARDS ME!!!" - adding a lot of profanity in the commands. If that student hesitates in the slightest or does anything other than only what is instructed, the teacher shoots the student half a dozen times with a loud pistol firing paint balls, shouting "You're dead! You're dead!!" Occasionally, the teacher also would shoot one or two other students near that student to show how law enforcement legally functions.

Since such police shooting incidents sometimes start when the person is asleep, this routine also should be done to K-1 students during their nap time. When all the children are asleep, the teacher would shout out as loud as possible "POLICE! EVERYONE GET CHEST DOWN ON THE FLOOR, ARMS IN FRONT OF YOU!" For any child who did not instantly do so, the teacher and teachers aids would immediately begin shooting those children with paint balls in a gun as loud as a real gun, shouting "You're dead! You're dead!"

This also should be done with students who are blind and deaf, as disabilities are no excuse to lack of instant, perfect compliant.

Since that is how "law" and government power over people now in fact works, should it be required that students are taught how lack of instant total and perfect submissive and compliant with police is a summary execution capital offense?

Since people are no longer interested in the commitment it takes to be a responsible parent i think all newborns should be institutionalized and taught whatever the government feels they need to know.

Perhaps we take it a step further and institutionalize women who get pregnant so the government can insure proper prenatal care and produce the healthiest possible children.

The solution is to end this standard, not to teach kids anything else.

This is supposed to be a FREE country where every one is to be secure in their person without fear of government intrusion or abuse. People do not need to change their behavior. It is the government that needs to be changed.

Disarm the cops, arm the people as per the 2d Amendment.

A good reason why less things should be considered crimes.

In some cases the fault is just as much the laws as it is the two persons involved. (if you're willing to look at it from that perspective)

Parents used to teach this. Even my hs shop teacher said don't argue or try your case on the street, it'll just make things worse for you.

1). The government gives its citizens good reasons to commit crimes.
2). The police are given the task of arresting people who commit crimes.
3). The people who commit crimes are frustrated at being forced to use illegal means to survive and then being arrested for it.
4). The confrontation between people who commit crimes and the police is a never-ending stand-off between two people who are forced to do a job they don't want to do, while government laughs and gets wealthy off kick-backs.

The bottom line is that government and business are working in cahoots to steal your money and your livelihood, and hire police to stop you from protesting about it.

Parents should teach kids how to deal with police. We just had this talk with my youngest, as he will start driving soon.

Police reform is all that is needed. It is time for those anti-government pundits from the political far right to demand LESS government in this regard. But, as usual, all we get is silence from these hypocrites.

I think it would scare children, we saw how crazy some cops are and how they do stupid thing like try to make you craw towards them with your legs crossed and hand and feet up, then shoot you dead if you fail to be able to do it while panicking cause they are shouting they are gonna kill you if you miss up

I agree, do not assume cops are reasonable people, remain silent, talk to your lawyer, not the cop, even if innocent

as anything you say CAN and WILL be used against you

and hope the cop doesn't kill you, cause they can and most of the time get away with it

and this is not based on race... all civilians are at risk.... just try to be nice to the cop and hope for the best

btw, I do not 100% blame this on the police, they do a job that makes them deal with the worst of the worst, some cops get a biased view and just start assuming everyone is the worst of the worst

we have seen recently that innocent people get killed too, and some times police escalate the situation and make demands that are not able to be followed and then kill you

we also saw the nurse, where the cop was making unreasonable demands, she was right not to break the law and force her patient to unreasonable medical procedures based on the cops demands

Readers might be interested in what the leading American conservative magazine -- the late William Buckley's National Review -- had to say about the Daniel Shaver killing. Here.

This is an on-line column. The end-of-December print issue is even more explicit in its judgement:

"Daniel Shaver’s killing by police is incredibly disturbing. Responding to a complaint about a man waving a rifle out of a hotel window, a group of officers arrived at the scene and ordered him and a companion out of the room. An officer then issued a series of confusing instructions that included crawling; drunk, crying, unarmed, and begging not to be killed, Shaver did his best to comply — but eventually reached behind his back, presumably to pull up his pants, and another officer shot him. (It turned out the rifle had been a pellet gun he was showing off to some guests in the room.) Given the totality of the circumstances, the jury was wrong to acquit the officer who killed Shaver, though it is worth noting that police officers are trained to respond immediately when a suspect reaches toward his waist, as it doesn’t take much time to produce a weapon and pull the trigger. May Shaver, a father of two, rest in peace, and may his family’s lawsuits against the city of Mesa, Ariz., succeed."

I saw the video and it was just outright killing that man. At anytime the officers could have just approached and handcuffed him. He was being given impossible commands (crawl with your legs crossed) and by the video it seemed clear the officer wanted to kill him before doing so.

My father taught me to be confrontational with the police.
I'm not, but since my father has been my best teacher ever, if anything is to be taught in schools, this should be it.

Children in my country are routinely advised by their parents to lie to policemen.
I think this is a tragedy, but ultimately, the nature of life in this country.

Simply solutions are the best, disarm your police and they won't shoot any children.

So you are suggesting the only people in our society not armed should be the police? I mean that seems like it would make going out on patrol suicide in many areas of this country.

    That is correct.
In my country it is this way and the police don't shoot any children.

    Nor are policemen killed.
The job still attracts bullies and the like, but they aren't empowered to treat people as badly as other police forces do.

    What country are you from?
