If guns needed to be registered there would be no need to renew registration to keep track of who owns them because if you sell a gun the person buying it would have to then register it.

When you purchase a weapon you and the weapon are registered.

As a liberal I worry about people being killed by guns. Government can't lose any public respect because it has none now.

    Rights are rights.
The constitution protects all rights with equal veracity; a restriction held as unconstitutional on one rights is unconstitutional on all.
The right to keep and bear arms is not some red-headed stepchild that can be treated differently from the others.

My post was clear; your failure to meaningfully address it indicates my point is clear as well.

Love the NRA strawman you built that is based on silly hyperbole.

First, the NRA never advocated for bump stocks. In fact, they suggested that the ATF reclassify them. The so-called cop killer bullets were designed for use BY cops, not against cops. The NRA helped with the legislation that did finally ban them. There are no guns invisible to x-ray that were ever sold in the civilian marketplace. In fact, the guns that supposedly are invisible to X-rays are the now almost common Glock 17, which are among the most common guns used by police officers.

...oBozo reviewed it as well and was "bought off" by the NRA.

    Was that "funny"?

    Did you laugh or cry?

Obama's Promise Program prevented Cruz from being arrested and having a criminal record that would have prevented him from buying that gun. The FBI was handed two warnings about Cruz on a silver platter that Barney Fife could have tracked down with a hangover, but they were too busy looking for Russians under beds. The school was a gun-free-wish zone imposed by Liberal thinking and had only one armed guard that was wandering around outside where he would be safe. Liberalism killed those kids - no way around this one.

I know bad guys who would have been affected because they fear getting caught. There has to be some oversight, and right now there is none.

Right, and you would notify the state that you sold it and to whom.

There needs to be oversight where weapons are concerned.

All of our rights have the same oversight, including the RKBA.
And as far as bad guys not having fear getting caught - if they do not, it's because current laws are not being fully enforced.

Oversight where the problem isn't there?

    How stupid is that?
