The U.S. was blessed in many ways. Having the third world on our southern border is not one of those blessings.

How damn silly to be so unable to understand that no Tourists, American or other, were killed in Cancun.

The fact that none of the people killed were American tourists should make you a lot less nervous

Imagine if drug gangs killed 14 people in the last two days in the Wisconsin Dells. It would be a bad tourist season ahead for those poor cheese heads.

Not much less. Not enough to lure me down to a narco terrorist killing zone.

People run across busy highways every day. People play Russian roulette. People jump into the tiger's enclosure at the zoo.
People drink themselves dead all the time. People pee on electric fences.

People do lots of stupid things and die off improving the gene pool in the process. Vacationing in a nation overrun by drug cartels is one of those stupid life threatening things. That some people come back alive and unharmed doesn't make their decision making processes any less stupid or careless. Not everyone who dashes across the freeway gets run over.

That's why "Mexico possesses strict gun laws, where most types and calibers are reserved to military and law enforcement." It's also why certain government types want that here too.

Mexico still has a significant "caste" system. The drug cartels and emigrating North are two ways for the lower castes to try and make it in this world

Yeah, my mother in law used to live there. As far as I know her presence or the presence of any other Yanqui touristas or part time residents
have not made Mexico one bit less the dangerous narco-state that produces atrocities like these. https://www.hindustantimes.com/worl...-manzanillo/story-Tr3g7mdxbI3dFGtKZeJgBJ.html

However it suits some people's agendas to pretend it's perfectly safe there never mind how many headless bodies wind up adorning bridges
    and popular Mexican landmarks. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/0...xican-city-besieged-drug-gang-infighting.html

it also suits some peoples agenda to pretend that tourists and expats are at risk when they are not at risk.

I suppose if they hide out in their Club Med condos and never go anywhere then they will hopefully not be the targets of warring drug cartels.
On the other hand if you are a prisoner during your Mexican visit of your little enclave for fear of kidnapping or beheadings then there is little point in visiting and you could save a lot of money by going to Arizona instead of Cancun.

    Less risk of diarrhea also.

Trumpsters whine about drug violence (thanks to USA demand) down in Mexico, but they're pretty
dismissive of school shootings in the U.S.

Cancun is a joke. I passed through there 10 years ago, on the way south, and they said
they'd found the mayor's head downtown that very morning. Looks like he wouldn't play
    ball with the cartels.

I agree with your post, Mexico needs to reign in the crime in order to keep their tourist money flowing into their economy.
