I love Portland. I lived there for a few (five?) years. Great town. I hope they clear out the Antifa nutjobs.

Spam is cooked in the same can you buy it in.Spam was
    used during WorldWar II.
Spam doesn't even look yummy.Like a lot of those hard plastic
    wrapped cold cuts at Wal*mart.
Spam looks and tastes like it should be called spam.
I wonder if Miss Smarty is gonna fess up and explain she
    has a Spam recipe.
My Mom { a very good cook } had a spam recipe.,
It was her Ham loaf. The smell while cooking was damn near
    lethal.It spread throughout the house.
Now explain to me how something that smells that odorous is
supposed to be good.Don't blame it on whatsever spices or
slice onions mixed in.Or that often times smells are good.
    Like on a Farm.Bad example ... I know.

Yes, but with mashed potatoes on top. Goulash or spaghetti & meatsauce was the kids' fav. They could eat that 3 x day.

As a kid, spent a year living with my dad at his sister's farm in West Texas. They were poor as church mice, running a tenant farm, but I'll never forget those meals. Fresh grown everything, including beef, pork & chicken, dairy, fruits & vegetables. But what I remember most was that cooking was a fulltime job. My aunt was in the kitchen from before dawn til night, cooking, baking and cleaning up. 7/365. Thats when I knew I didnt wanna be a farmers wife. ;)

Fried Spam makes good sammiches and goes great with scrambled eggs. My sil used to put it thru a meatgrinder and make a sandwich spread for trips to the lake.

Its big in Hawaii and breakfast buffets in Vegas.

If Im not mistaken, practically all canned foods are cooked in the can. If not, Im sure Foolie will inform us. ;)

Not Buyin and I'll tell ya why.Does it rain more in Portland
than In London.I doubt it.And Carrying an Umbrella in London
is a must. Therefore the name John Steed of - The Avengers - TV hit of
the mid-60's.You wouldn't catch him out and about w/o his trusty
    Umbrella and Bowler.
Londoner's famous for their hats and being well-dressed.

I think Spam was the original and only type ham that is cooked in
the can it's sold in.Plus Spam is technically not a canned ham.
    It's a Ham/Pork spread.

For breakfast/lunch/dinner just now before my next late swing shift:

    - reheated rib meat from Outback Steakhouse (I could not eat it all the other day when there)

    - baked beans mixed with the rib meat

    - grapefruit juice (can't drink booze before work).

Several years ago we were driving on I-90 through bucolic southern Minnesota when I spotted a signboard touting the SPAM museum in Austin. So we pull off the interstate (how often does an opportunity like this drop in your lap) and pull in to the museum. The parking lot was empty, which was odd, and then I saw the sign . . . "Closed on Sunday."

It was Sunday. Story of my life.

I checked and London gets an average of 22 inches of rain a year, and Portland gets 44 inches.

Truly, we are the "rain people".

We started out with two rickety fold-up metal TV dinner trays as end tables. a rickety, repainted metal shelf with sliding doors on the bottom as a buffet, a wood bookcase, a single bar stool, two umbrella chairs, and an old sleep sofa. We kept our bikes behind the bookcase and cooked our first Thanksgiving turkey in a wok.

If you put a little tear in the check where the account number was located, they had to process it by hand, thus adding an extra day to the time checks could be floated. :D My friend's mother worked at a bank and passed that little goody along.

I lived on tomato sandwiches for a better part of a month once.

    Why not a Farmer's mistress.You know like in - Dynasty - TV show .
All the benefits but not direct Inheritance.Maybe a nice codicil
    added for you as beneficiary.
Let's not kid ourself.Woman, most often marry for security.
Whether to guarantee a steady income or a nice home.
Not because the fellar has blond hair and blue eyes and is over
6 feet tall.To make for better offspring.I wonder if Joe Yule ever thought of
that.He married 8 times and had lots of job security. However he was a
short man.More than enough spunk. But in the end he got robbed
of his wealth and his dignity. It may have started with Ava Gardner.

Not the end of the story. The Smell.Tell us about the stench.
There's no way that parking lot did not reek of meat smells.
Hellfire ... The entire block.I bet that the neighborhood is at a
safe distance from the Spam Plant.

I haven't tried the recipes, but am interested. My wife loves red beans and rice. I usually buy the boxed Zatarains or, less often, Tony Chachere's. Do you taste celery seed in the Popeye's version or just add it for taste?

A few months back my wife and I drove a car back from NC to TX. We took a slightly longer route because my wife wanted to see Graceland. I wasn't interested, but did want to see the Memphis Belle. Graceland was open, but the Memphis Belle was closed due to restoration. Rats!

    Mmmm tomato sandwiches.
That fresh picked from the garden that's still warm from the sun, tomato with some Italian bread or no bread and a little salt
. lol I just made my mouth water.
When we were kids my great uncle would put a salt shaker under the patio and we could pick tomatoes to snack on. We just couldn't pick the ones he had marked to save for seeds.

I found two tiny red ants in the kitchen. Im basically an all Gods creatures great and small, live and let live person unless its in the house.

So the other day we go into this mind numbing discussion about if you are going to use poison ant cups you need to figure out what the ants are attracted to.
Really? Ok Ill go along to get along. So last night I put out some sugar and some oil in the kitchen sink. No ants this morning. Nothing lured them. I went in the bathroom and 2 red ants were on the toilet seat. I started laughing and said, Honey I figured out what the ants are attracted to and we have a really big problem. They are attracted to ass and we have no shortage of that here. Ahahahahah

So I scrubbed the hell out of the kitchen and bathroom again and put down ant cups.
