You are right, there was a canning place in the town where my in-laws lived. I would help my MIL get veggies ready to be canned. They cooked them in the can. We would can green beans, peas, squash, tomatoes, Brunswick stew and butter beans. I should say if it could be canned it got canned.

When we moved after my husband graduated from college the only piece of furniture we owned was a baby bed. Those were the days.

Can anyone listen to this song without smiling. It is a bit political but funny.

It is a stew with just about everything you can imagine put in; it is a big thing around here. "Who makes the best Brunswick Stew?", is a question often asked. I had never heard of Brunswick stew till I got married and all the children and in-laws would come to my MIL's house for the stew. It is pretty good.

It is cold here today. What happened to global warming? Geez. This is supposed to be warm and sunny. If it is going to be cold, I want snow. Love that snow..

Everyone around wants to make the best Brunswick stew. It is like the chili cook-off in Terlingua anybody and everybody does it the best.

Our neighbor's son drove his bride from the church to the reception in his tractor. There was a sign on the tractor that said, "She thinks my tractor is sexy." It was a real cute wedding. I can only imagine what a Texas cowboy wedding is like. Sounds like fun.

It's not a Stew w/o any meat.Usually Beef but sometimes Pork or
    Lamb.Never chicken.
Vegetable Stew is not a stew.Just like Beef Stroganoff is not
a Stroganoff without noodles and sour cream.I also insist on
    nice fresh cut mushrooms.
Fish Stew is entirely a different animal.

Depends on who is cooking the stew, it is made with pork, chicken and beef, depends on who is making it. There is no absolute way to fix Brunswick stew everyone does it their way.

Heh, awesome thanks. :) Been seeing a knockout for six months now - one of the prettiest women I've ever met. We have a fantastic time together. I keep threatening to break out the John Denver music.

I haven't tried it, but have tried Wolf brand Chili. It's passable and makes a quick meal, but not my first....or even fifth choice.
