Is the abortion debate useless until society comes to grips with human sexuality? There is much discussion about abortion and people have different views but are people just avoiding the discussion of sexuality? Think about it, pregnancy is the result of sex and an unwanted pregnancy can result in abortion. It seems to me the abortion debate should really be a discussion on sexuality and how it fits into society. At one time society viewed sex outside of marriage as a bad thing. Things have changed and now sex is viewed as being more for recreation than procreation. I am not arguing for anything other than sex is a topic that should be discussed more than abortion. Thoughts?
That was the major reason for marriage in the past. (Or if not the main reason, one of the major reasons) You are right, the break-up of marriage has gone hand in hand with the need for abortion.
What would have happened in the 1950s if you had approached a girl's father and told him you wanted to have recreational sex with her, no strings attached? I'm talking about an 18 year old girl.
What would happen now? Why would have ever approached the girl's father? You ask her You still ask her [/QUOTE]
Nope, sex and abortion are two different things, didn't you know that? A woman's right to an abortion has nothing to do with sex. Your : ""Things have changed and now sex is viewed as being more for recreation than procreation"" That's hilarious! There have ALWAYS been people for whom sex was recreation ...fun sex didn't really start in the 1960's. honest, .... read some history...how about back to Roman orgies..and up through history ...
Yes, it just wasn't televised, shown in movies, and Facebook and glossy magazines, it wasn't always advertised and displayed BUT it has ALWAYS been there.. Human nature has not and does not change...
No, it isn't useless even if Anti-Choice( Anti-Women's rights ) people want the debate silenced. Decent people will always fight for preservation of rights for everyone...they won't be silenced...
Yup, by having sex or artificial insemination............she doesn't have an abortion by having sex....
Nope, not decent if they want to take away actual people's rights...and give more rights to a fetus than anyone else has.. Are you fighting the Pentagon to get them to quit "snuffing out life" ?
The point is that recreational, sex for fun has been around since humans have been around.....it isn't new, it didn't start in 1960, it just gets better advertising now.
So because society was toxic then and didn’t treat adult women as if they were anything other than their father’s property that he could defend with lethal force, you think that is a good thing?
The fun thing is that Feminists are pushing the lines of "society is oversexualised", "a woman owns her body and can sleep around as much as she wants!", "men use women as sex toys!" and "abortions for all!" not seeing how they are all inter-tangled in a complex web of degeneracy, hedonism and accepted misogyny.
The Romans liked recreational sex enough that they drove a natural abortifaceant plant into extinction because they used so much of it.
Having slaves was profitable, but it went away. Might making it right couldn't hold. Having abortions is convenient, and profitable, but it will go away also. Might making it right will not hold. Keep up the debates, keep showing the images of the butchery. Change is coming.
Hasn't changed in several thousand years..... It isn't "might" that makes it right, it's rights that make it right...
The first country to bring abortion under the auspices and protection of the state was the Soviet Union in 1920 -- although the Soviet Union was not fully formed up until 1922 five years after the Communists took power.
