It’s not about support by Arab world. As western countries become increasingly politically correct, current situation with rights of an Israeli citizen vs rights of Palestinians in their territories make Israel look increasingly like an apartheid state. Something is going to have to give - either a 1 state or 2 completely separate states.
I doubt current situation will last much longer.
And I’m not taking sides here, I personally have no dog in that fight.

 

That's referring, as you can see, to 'Proportionality in Attack. The Israelis were defending themselves.

The ones who were doing the attacking numbered about 40,000, which is hardly proportional, and proportionality is not mentioned in cases of defense.

The Palestinians were warned not to go through the barbed wire and head for the fence. They did and some were shot. The fence is only 10' high.

 

Firing into a group of 40,000 unarmed civilians who are protesting .. killing hundreds and wounding over 1000 .. when not one person on your side has been shot at .. is clearly disproportionate use of force.

I realize you do not care about the rest of the world .. that is not my problem nor does it change the fact that the rest of the world agrees with me.

Well, Fox would certainly won’t paint israel as a bad guy.
I read the story twice - Washington post and NY Times. They both say Israel reacted to attempts to damage border infrastructure and break through.

 

It was when I noticed the BBC for the first time since something happened between the BBC and Israel prior to Cast Lead, acting like proper journalists asking pertinent questions and while still putting some cotton wool around it saying the situation as it is. It was when I noticed that that I felt we have moved.

The Great March of Return was so terrifying to Israel because lawfully these people have keys to the homes their parents or grandparents were ethnically cleansed from. They lawfully have the right of return. For the first time in all these years the BBC at least started talking about the hell these people are boarded up in and the reality that nothing is done to alleviate their constant suffering and far from being 'bad' people, they are the victims. It isn't that reporters necessarily want to start telling the truth. It is that the killing and maiming by Israel and the world's reaction makes it impossible not to. Things have changed.

 

Do you remember the split of Pakistan from India?

There was mass migrations of people from one side to the other.

Should each of those groups just be granted back the properties that they abandoned?
