    https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/15/manafort-mueller-indictment-590215

Manafort tried a Fox News talking point as a defense and it did not work out. And since, "I did not do it" isn't really working out so well, he had to try something.

And for those curious, this is not the same judge as the one who made the right wing cream their pants last week by making a non-binding statement of his opinion. This judge is Amy Berman Jackson, the judge overseeing the trial in DC. The judge that made those comments two weeks ago is T.S. Ellis in Virginia.

Mueller has hit Manafort with 5 money laundering indictments in DC because those crimes were committed using property and money he acquired in DC. Then later in 2018, Mueller charged Manafort with an additional 14 counts of tax fraud and evasion because when Manafort committed those crimes, he was living in Virginia.

That's why there will likely be two trials for Manafort. One in DC, and one in Virginia. The judge in DC has said that the trial can move forward, the judge in Virginia hasn't ruled yet. It's very possible this judge in Virginia could agree with Manafort's argument and overturn Mueller's indictments. That's a concern for anyone that cares about laws being broken.

What a shocker, a ruling with which you disagree.

I knew before I opened it the Judge would be in one of a handful of liberal areas. I was correct again. Either I'm Karnak, or your side is simply transparent.

    Zing!!

    Oh and...

“I’m not saying it’s illegitimate,” Ellis said.

The Trumpers were feeling so good last week and now we have NK playing Donnie, pay to play with China, McCain being disgraced and Manafort case not dismissed. Ouch. Winning....

:roflol:wheres that video of that Trump dude laughing

Uh....or you read a previous story that said that the charges were laid in DC and your brain unknowingly made the logical connection that he'd probably face a judge there too. .

Mueller's DC Grand Jury is hopelessly flawed...

And now we know that Oleg Deripaska was recruited by the FBI to help fabricate evidence against Manafort.

Except for the fact that Trump's base is totally in agreement about wanting a replacement for McCain as soon as possible.

And except for the fact that the Virginia judge, Ellis, expects the un-redacted Rosenstein letter by Friday.

And except for the fact that a foreign company that has been sanctioned can be removed under article 2 authority.

NK is still a work in progress... Pompeo is putting a good effort forward.

If Obama were still in office he would be out at Martha's Vineyard this week for a match play golf outing with Samuel L. Jackson.

Judge Contreras had to be removed after the Mueller team used the FISA evidence in a presentation to the DC Grand Jury.

The Flynn adjudication hearing has been delayed three times at this point.

It is now a, "fruit from a poison tree," situation.

Mueller and Rosenstein used a smokescreen by indicting Russians, but now have to face Reed Smith, a top 20 global law firm, who know exactly what they did.

Does indicting a company that didn't exist at the time give you at least a little pause?

Trump has over a 100 days of golf, 1/3 of his time in office on HIS course costing US money.

As an attorney, I would think you would understand pretrial motions are part of the posturing common to such trials.

Would legal counsel for a person accused of murder be considered to be following a Fox News talking point if they attempted to have a court rule on questions of prosecutorial authority, or exclusion of evidence?

As if that portion of my post was serious. Did you think I was serious when I said the "I didn't do it" strategy was not working?

Now you're running from your claim?

So which parts of your post should a reader take seriously?

    Of course you were serious.

Rather weak to try and deny it.

But if you must, go for it.

    LOL.

I did not think you would need the assistance, but if you like, the portion after the link to the article and before the explanation of who is the judge that issued the ruling is the portion of the thread that the reader should not take seriously. I did not actually mean to suggest that the Manafort lawyers made their legal decisions based on Fox News or that Mueller was surrendering his not guilty defense.

I understand. You didn't mean to suggest, when you were suggesting.

    Got it.
