Not as bad as it seems.
"Former CSIRO boss Megan Clark, who helped the government complete a review on this topic, is expected to head up the agency in its first year. According to the ABC's report, the government expects that the private sector will contribute the majority of funding required for Australia's space industry.

But $50 million is a decent start.

"They should be able to do something useful with the money," Andrew Dempster told CNET. He's the director of the Australian Centre for Space Engineering Research at the University of NSW."

They should upgrade. They've got a Toaster at Circular Quay, should be a Dishwasher on Bennelong Point.

Queensland woman charged with riding horse to bottle shop while four times over legal limit
A woman has been charged after allegedly riding a horse to a bottle shop while she was more than four times the legal alcohol limit.

Police in Logan, south of Brisbane, were called to a tavern about 11:30pm on Tuesday over a woman refusing to leave the premises.

The horse was also taken to the police station before it could be returned. (Supplied: Queensland Police Service)
They said upon arrival the female allegedly rode the horse through the drive-through section of the tavern and appeared heavily intoxicated.

The woman was arrested and taken to Logan Central Police Station, where she allegedly provided a positive blood alcohol concentration of .226 per cent.

Officers walked the horse back to Logan Central Police Station while the woman was processed.

Council workers later assisted in walking the horse back to a Marsden address.

The 51-year-old woman was charged with being in charge of a horse whilst under the influence of liquor.

She is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 26.

"Police want to remind the public that drink driving does not just mean a vehicle, it can include a horse," a police spokesman said.

Sadly :sniff: all YouTube Yule log scenes are inaccurate.
Showing a pile of smaller logs, not one that would make it to morning.

    Shark drags woman into crocodile-infested
    waters in Australia

A “once-in-a-lifetime” trip in May for a woman in Australia quickly turned into a harrowing experience when she suffered a bite while feeding a shark, which then dragged her into the water.

Melissa Brunning, 34, was on a yacht in the remote Kimberley region in the northwest part of the country, located about 1,550 miles north of Perth, when she tried to hand-feed up to four tawny nurse sharks swimming around her boat.

Brunning told the West Australian that she didn't realize she shouldn’t hand feed a shark, until the animal became "like a Hoover," sucking her right index finger into its mouth full of rows of razor-sharp teeth.

The shark also pulled her into the water of Dugong Bay, which is inhabited by saltwater crocodiles that can grow up to 23 feet long and weigh more than a ton, according to Sky News.

Brunning sustained cuts, a fracture, a torn ligament and a bad infection from the bite, but did not lose her finger.

The 34-year-old told the West Australian the incident was “completely my fault," and "just a blonde doing a stupid thing."

So she blames blonde and not an Aussie thing. :hmm:

There are many deadly creatures in our country and they should be treated with respect...or else.

Nothing wrong with an idiot making money off fooling a bunch of morons he knows about an animal that avoided extinction for a few hundred million years. However, if left alone, nature has a way of culling idiots from any species.

Unfortunately, we have allowed a few idiots into authority making positions that effect the outcomes for everyone. These idiots would prefer to doom us a a species to grandiose their own self-righteousness, rather than do what is correct for humanity as a whole. I believe the adage: "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" exemplifies my thinking. A bit off topic, but Steve Irwin demonstrates how one complete fool can hoodwink many fools. Irwin always reminded me of that obnoxious little kid hanging around parties picking his nose & annoying everyone with his magic tricks no one was interested in. LOL
