Comey refuses to testify to Congress, McCabe pleads Fifth Amendment .....

Fired FBI Director James Comey refused to appear before Congress on Monday to talk about his handling of the Clinton email investigation, and his fired deputy, Andrew McCabe, asserted his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination, Sen. Charles E. Grassley said.

Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch also declined to show up for a major hearing where the Senate Judiciary Committee was looking into the inspector general’s report detailing major bungles in Mr. Comey’s handling of the Clinton investigation.

Mr. Comey’s lawyer said he was out of the country — though Mr. Grassley, committee chairman, said he saw Mr. Comey was in Iowa over the weekend, visiting a key state in presidential campaigning.

He said he had sought to compel the three to show up to testify, but Sen. Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat, blocked him. Under committee rules, the ranking Democrat must agree with the chairman in order to issue a subpoena.

During Monday’s hearing with the inspector general and current FBI Director Christopher Wray, Sen. Ted Cruz wanted to know who was lying.

“One or the other is not telling the truth. I don’t know which one,” he said.

Mr. Wray declined to answer, saying it would trample on an ongoing investigation — though he wouldn’t say what that investigation is.....snip~

There you have it.....Diane Feinstein blocking subpoenas for Comey, McCabe, and Lynch. Right there is proof that the Demos are not about the rule of law. That they will even obstruct an investigation by Congress.

McCabe down with the 5th now. First he talks and not he don't. Its like Cruz said. Either Comey or McCabe is lying. McCabe is suing the FBI too.

Now McCabe knows he has to take on Comey. Not talking won't help his case. What say ye?

 

He is saving it all for his next book I guess.

 

He's out of the country and that is usually considered an adequate excuse not to show up for a little while. Patience. I dunno about McCabe, he is suing the FBI so this could have some effect on that.

 

I'm thinking the left is facing major problems on many fronts, and has no idea how to deal with them.

The optics are terrible, their latest Dog Whistle regarding children illegally entering the country is a mess, and it's going to be difficult to control the narrative, no matter how hard their media partners try.

Far from spinning the public into peak support just prior to the mid-terms, they are seeing the team trip and stumble.

I expect to see the left's spin machine go into hyperdrive and they try to regain some cohesive message.

I'd have to refresh my memory, but the number of "witnesses" involved in some liberal led scheme involving a government agency who pleads the fifth is quite remarkable.

I guess, claiming to be "out of the country" might be a new way of doing the same.

 

He tweeted about being in Iowa as recently as Friday and again Saturday.

 

The optics will look worse for them if the Lame Stream is forced to Focus on Feinstein and her obstruction. News Sources on the Right need to go after Feinstein and the Lame Stream if they don't put Feinstein in the Spotlight. These investigations already take up a lot of time and now Feinstein is deliberately prolonging this one.

 

Comey is under investigation. By the FBI.....why would they let him leave the Country. He should have to surrender up his passport.

 

Well, sadly, the reason they haven't taken stronger measures may be quite obvious.

I didn't see the Lame Stream report on anything about Comey leaving the Country Sunday. Didn't hear anything about where his Book Tour was taking him. Nor did he mention anything about he was going somewhere outside the Country for his next stop with the Book Tour.

 

There are these things called Rules. Protocols.....Like when one is under investigation. They just aren't allowed to up and leave the country nilly willy. People have to surrender their passports. Gets permission to leave the country. You know things like that.

 

And since the republicans big IG report was a bust they must now scramble to discredit that report as well. Sad.

 

I am waiting to see what the excuses are going to be when Trump won't sit down with Mueller.
