North Korea scraps 'anti-US imperialism' rally as ties appear to warm By Benjamin Haas in Seoul and agencies June 25, 2018 North Korea will cancel its annual “anti-US imperialism” rally, part of a growing détente with its longstanding enemy as the two countries negotiate over the fate of the North’s nuclear weapons program. The rally, which typically marks the start of a month of events commemorating the 1950-53 Korean war and denouncing the US, has been held for years and last year attracted 100,000 people in the capital, Pyongyang. North Korean officials did not give a reason for skipping the rally, according to the Associated Press, which first reported the cancellation. The event usually features slogans and propaganda cartoons attacking the US, participants raising their fists in defiance and even commemorative postage stamps showing the destruction of the US. Last year one official said all members of the ruling Workers’ party and residents of Pyongyang were “aflame with the will to completely remove the US imperialists, the sworn enemy, from the globe”. In the past the rally has allowed North Korea to communicate its political message to the world, which has centered on grievances over US policy in the region.... The release of hostages, the demolition of the nuclear sites, the scrapping of Anti American propaganda, and the return of missing KIA GI's after 70 years. President Trump's negotiations have been showing good results,. Meanwhile, according to Progressive Democrats and the media Trump should be following the Obama "Lead From Behind" policy. Seems Obama's world view of the "Chamberlain" foreign policy philosophy didn't work in the 20th Century nor did it work for him during his administration.
They had an annual anti-US imperialism rally? I guess when you haven't got TV or electricity you gotta have something to look forward to.
Life is much harder without electricity there than it is here. Lot's more people die of carbon monoxide poisoning in the winter there than here.
Have you ever seen the nighttime satellite picture of North Korea? https://www.google.com/search?q=nig...AhVK_IMKHXo0DrAQ9QEINDAE#imgrc=Vyjz81hbLf3QfM:
~~~~~~ Of course that was Sept 2017 and Apr 2018, however based upon the meeting in Singapore their annual rally has been scrapped. I see you like to dwell on the past and not present.
And in other news .. Germany, France, Canada, Mexico, India, China .. and so on ... are not starting "anti US Imperialism rallies" What a nice trade off splendid.
