Sure he did when he showed up and said give to God what is Gods and to Caesar what is Caesars. Then he took over the Roman Empire and to this day there is a dynamic tension between church and state. Making sense now?
actually conquering killing raping enslaving etc etc are not encouraged by 10 Commandments. Do you understand?
I was responding to a post of yours, not directly to the OP. It's tied to your OP in that individual rights came after the split between religion and state. Jesus was about personal duty, not personal rights.
wrong of course. It was big liberal central govt and our founders made that illegal here. You have learned this 24 times before.
so???? OP is about Jesus establishing individual liberty on earth. Why not write subject down so you wont forget it. it seems you are talking at random about any thing that pops into your head?t
But, you haven't show that is the root of morality. Do YOU understand the progress the ancient Greeks made on philosophy? Are you aware there were others in this world, too?
Who cares whether it is the root, what the root is, or where the first seed on earth grew. The point is Jesus and Luther taught the 10 commandments to billion thus establishing morality on earth. Now do you understand?
Jesus taught that every human being is a sinner who needed to be saved. THAT is what I pointed out to you. The claim of love does NOT counter the fact of human nature according to Christianity. You need to brush up on your religion.
You brought in religious elements that were mistaken. If we're going to include Christianity in this discussion, we need to makes sure of what Christianity is.
The split between church and state did not happen until hundreds of years after the death of Jesus. And, the split was NOT at the behest of the church. The church LOST that argument. NOW do you understand?
Well, it involved a mistaken view of Christianity that has to be resolved as a first step. So, I made that correction.
Slavery was accepted at the time of Jesus and was not opposed by him. And, the Holy Roman Empire carried out major military operations where the central purpose was conquest and forcibly changing people's religious beliefs. Check out the Spanish Inquisition as one element. Check out the wars in Europe. Check out the wars of succession in England. Your history has a many centuries big hole in it. Do you understand?
No, he established individual DUTY. He said nothing about individual freedom. I agree he said you don't have to accept a specific religion. But, construing that to be some sort of change is ludicrous. Plus, the Holy Roman Empire and numerous popes certainly did NOT believe you get to have a choice in anything religious. They put people to death for failing to accept Jesus in exactly the right way.
He created the individual when he said you are loved as an individual and not merely a worthless slave or cog in the Roman collective. Now do you understand?
Once again, there are many sources of morality. Every religion and philosophy that have existed on earth have attempted to claim to be the source of morality. I'd point out that the seven deadly sins kick the ASS of the 10C!
That did not split religion and government. In fact, the answer Jesus gave doesn't even answer the question. First of all, it was about taxes. And, it really doesn't make sense that the fact that a coin has Caesars image means that it belongs to Caesar. What doesn't get answered is what is it that DOES belong to Caesar and what DOES belong to the kingdom of heaven. Plus, this isn't the only bit of scripture that could possibly apply, and was written in the context of spies attempting to find cause for jailing Jesus. Remember that in Matthew 5:38-41 Jesus exhorts people to refrain from even defending simply property ownership. The clear point of the NT is that Earth is a brief time of testing our willingness to accept and follow our DUTY to god - and definitely NOT to defend some "right" we might think we have.
Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so. That doesn't mean I have individual rights. It means Jesus loves me. Do you understand?
