Right now its state by state, city by city, but in most cases, yes. Interestingly, it was another Democrat organization, the Klan that most of those laws were written for. You folks and your history of repeating yourselves...

I disagree. This thread is about the need for yet another big government program and laws about "antifa" whatever it is.

Whether or not antifa has a history of killing people would be relevant to whether such an expenditure and special effort is justified.

I'm sure if you get your your worldview from RW propaganda your belief would be that this is the most murderous gang of thugs since the mafia. As the posts from our other conservative friends indicate.

But the facts don't seem to bear that out.

Does this mean that someone with a Christian Jesus mask. standing on public right of way outside a Muslim mosque yelling "Muhammad was a pedophile and a mass murderer" and "Islam is a Satanic Cult and should be abolished", would be violating this new government law?

Or does it just apply to the ANTIFA exclusively?

Are you trying to harm someone while driving a car in a Halloween mask?

If we can have hate crimes we can have masked crimes.

In the case of political protesters they are not enforced, and they should be.

Good. Now you'll recognize that AntiFa clown when you pass him alone on the street.

I agree with the law in spirit, but worry that the language is too broad.

I think hate crime laws are stupid.

plus, Obama and Lynch, via their stooge James Comey, took great pains to inform us that intent doesn't really matter. ;)

crime is crime...whether you're gay, straight, black, brown or white....or whether you're wearing a mask or not.

If these idiots want to peacefully march around the commons wearing bandannas on their faces, I don't have a problem with it.....

    but if they get violent,
cops should take care of business...batons, tear gas, bean bags, rubber bullets and mass arrests....the convictions of which, were webby king, would result in a loss of access to EBT, food stamps, WIC, Section 8, utilities subsidies, government backed student loans, SBA loans, etc, for prescribed periods of time, up to and including life. king webby is a hard ass...no one wants king webby anywhere near the throne )

at the end of the day, I'm one of those weirdos who isn't particularly enamored with the idea of ceding government arbitrary, open ended authority to layer another set of laws and punishments on top of all the laws and punishments we already have...I see too many ways government can abuse such a law (and build on the precedent).

in most cases, "THERE OUGHTA BE A LAW!"
    generally makes me cringe.

I agree that the lawbreakers should be given no quarter. but wearing a bandanna on one's face doesn't automatically make one a lawbreaker or terrorist.

Consider that some people -- I contend many people -- who participate in these counterculture movements are just in it for the street cred....they like the aesthetic...the theater of it all...they just want to be part of 'something', even if only on the periphery, that they can pat each other on the backs about back at their dorms or local pubs.

I say that as someone who was heavily involved in biker culture for a while...there are the true outlaws, and then there are the bikers who just pretended to be outlaws on the weekends.

I'lll agree that wearing a bandana over one's face shouldn't be a crime. But wearing a bandana over one's face while committing a crime should be looked at differently. These Antifa thugs wear masks, shin pads and chest protectors - they want to start crap but don't want it ever coming back at them when the police start reviewing the video.

I'm cool with it - we already have anti-masking laws in Virginia.

However, the "progressive" fascists in Berkelely probably won't be happy about this...

If committing a crime while wearing a mask is punishable by jail time we're rid of Maxine Waters forever!

A bill about disguises? Who cares. We need to stop what these people do, not worry about what they wear.

many of them probably wear masks in this age of viral video because they don't want their square bosses and coworkers to see what sort of circles they run in....or their moms and dads to see what they're really doing, instead of studying.

If riot police see you commit a crime, it's not going to be made any better or worse for you if you're dressed like a ninja turtle.

The only problem I see is if this covers actual gas masks.
