I'd settle if he just understood the basis of his own position so he could argue it intelligently.

If having a big, strong central government resulted in peace and prosperity, then Soviet Russia and Communist China would have been the most peaceful and prosperous countries in history. As always, the THEORY of statism never corresponds to the REALITY of statism.

    you know that isn't true.

nobody is talking about a paper contract, or violence.

I am not, and you do not.
appears you don't know what an Ad Hom is.

Given capitalism exists because of the state, the reality of the "its statism" whine merely refers to empty whinge

I'm not a capitalist, so your repeated references to capitalism are as irrelevant as they are mysterious.

for exactly the reason I stated. It's entirely irrelevant to anything in this thread.

you have voluntarily consented to it, as you remain an US citizen, inside US borders, earning an income.

    it is not.
every wonder why libertarians are the extreme fringe minority of political philosophies? it's because they aren't part of the sane majority.
nonsense. And you don't actually believe any of this bullshit, because you are still here in the US, a US citizen, and you still pay your taxes. lol

If residing in a country and earning an income were tantamount to consent, then that would mean the Jews consented to being gassed by the Nazis. That is the logical conclusion of the standard YOU asserted in this thread.

Residing in a country and earning an income is not tantamount to consent, as I've already demonstrated.

    Oh, but it is!

America was founded on libertarian principles, and when Americans are polled, many tend to lean libertarian. But as history has shown, the state is notoriously anti-libertarian, which is why it takes pains to keep libertarians out of the political system.

    Whatever you say, little tyrant.

It has everything to do with the standard YOU asserted and continue to assert in this thread.

YOU claimed that living in a country and earning an income was tantamount to consent. That's what YOU said, remember?

But if that were the case, then that would mean the Jews consented to be gassed by the Nazis. Clearly, YOUR standard is patently fallacious.

of course it is, as I've shown you. If you were forcibly prevented from leaving, that would be different. but you are not.
    nope

uh, America was founded by radical liberals. Most americans are center left leaning, not libertarian.
no, it's just that libertarian ideas are mostly unworkable, unrealistic and often batshit crazy.

    How wrong can you get.

Detroit nosedived (as of the Great Recession in 2009) because of the car-market in general, but mostly because it priced itself out of the market.

Look no further, and it that has nothing whatsoever to do with the political party that was predominant. Though, neither do I think the Dems in Detroit or Chicago were all that smart either.

Here is the real reason, from WikiP here: Decline of Detroit
But, go ahead, blame it on the Dems. People who don't look for the real reasons behind economic distress usually do what you've done. Take a whack as some political party of personality.

When, in fact, the real reason is always far more complex than the simple answers ...

PS: Neither do I think the laborer unions were particularly astute. Their members had damn fine jobs at good pay and so the unions simply thought that should last forever. Wakey, wakey - aint how economies function!

Comparing paying taxes (for public good) with the holocaust neatly advertises the utter ridiculousness of right wingers pretending to be libertarian

You're the one who said living inside a country and earning an income amounts to consent. I merely took the standard you asserted and applied it in a different context. I was able to sweep aside your imaginary version of consent with one simple example.

If residing in a country and earning an income amounted to consent, then that would mean the Jews consented to be gassed by the Nazis. Clearly, your imaginary version of consent is ludicrous.

    Yup.

Libertarians and classical liberals are the same thing.

You're changing the goalposts. First you said that libertarians are on the fringe. Now you're claiming that most Americans are not libertarians. Your first claim was wrong. Many Americans identify with libertarian policies according to numerous polls, ergo they are not on the "fringe" as you originally claimed.

America was founded on libertarian ideas.

Rahl claims that residing inside a country and earning an income amounts to consent.

If that were true, then it would mean the Jews consented to be gassed by the Nazis.

Clearly, Rahl's completely imaginary version of consent is ludicrous.

Historical political leanings of the American people are best shown by what they do at the polls. That is, when they go there. In fact, we are one of the worst developed countries for voting in political elections. See here: International Comparisons Voter-Statistics - look for the US at the lower end of the pile.

As for voting profile, from here: Political party strength in U.S. states - Wikipedia - excerpt:
It is clearly the independent vote that decides outcomes ...

That you would compare rahl's coherent argument with the holocaust shows a lack of argument on your part. Put more effort in it.

Yeah, you were talking about a paper contract. You need to get your story straight but I imagine that your arguments are so incoherent because you haven't fully grasped the concepts that you are advocating.

No, it ISSUED the title under certain conditions because government administers possession and use of land in trust for the people, as part of its duty and function to secure and reconcile the equal individual rights of all to life, liberty, and property in the fruits of their labor. That's what government IS: the sovereign authority over a specific area of land. But no one can rightly own land, and a trustee does not own the trust assets. GET IT??
