You know what I'm referring to, not sure why you're pretending you don't. I remember receiving my letter in the mail from my insurer that my policy was ending at a certain date and I would no longer have coverage. Millions of other private policy owners received similar letters. No dems cared. We didn't get to keep our plan.

The problem with pre existent conditions is that there ain't no free lunch. Most all if not all group health plans do not impose the pre existing conditions block. The reason is that the cost of covering pre-existing conditions is born byball whonare in the group plan. Yes you, I , and Stashu Bobalytski pays for those who have pre-existing conditions.
In individual plans their is no group to tax to get the premium to pay for the coverage of those who have pre-existent conditions. If we covered pre-existing conditions for individually rated policies we would either have to charge one hell of a lot more premium or we ( insurance companies) would lose money and we would not be able to afford to pay any claims.

As Insaid there ain't no free lunch.

Where Obama care failed was that the individual policies were supposed to have been rated as group plans within the zip code group. We , the insurance companies were much smarter than the Obama people so got that part of the Obama Care plan hitcanned.

Why doesn't the free market take care of this?

We, ( insurance companies) are in business to make a profit. The reason that we deserve a profit is because we are more efficient in running insurance, we do better cost containment, we do not pay for things that we do not consider medically necessary. We know what we are doing.

Maybe you should have shopped around.

The elimination of the individual mandate is estimated to increase 2019 premiums by 16%.
So if you were unhappy before you will be real grumpy next year.

Sorry but no. I'm a real world example of private policies, as are many others here. You can push all these charts around, but I can tell you from personal experience, the rate increases after the ACA FAR surpassed anything prior. I shopped around all the time. I had to take the cheapest bronze plan I could find, and that still doubled my premiums from a plan I had that had to be cancelled due to not having maternity coverage. I couldn't keep my plan as I was promised. Obama lied. No amount of chart posting will change what the facts are for the paying citiziens. AGAIN, millions of policies were cancelled. You didn't care then. And a yearly increase of 16% is very LOW compared to prior ACA increases.

If a bronze plan in 2014 doubled your premiums you didn't have insurance, you had a worthless piece of paper you were paying for.

How do you assume to know what i had? I had a great plan with Coventry. I had far lower deductibles than I did with the ACA plan. I even had great vision and dental discounts that I did not have with the ACA plan.

But I guess you just KNOW about my previous plan because that's what the dems told you was fact. You couldn't be more wrong.

There were insurance companies who pulled out of certain markets and there were insurance companies who pulled out of certain markets because they did not want to comply with the provisions of Obama Care.

When the Obama people made that statement that if you like your doctor you keep him and/or if you like your insurance company you keep that was wishful thinking. Yes it was stupid to promise something that you did not guarantee. The dumb asses should have had us insurance companies set up Obama Care we would have done it right, atba price of course. You know when Obama said that you can keep you plan he was not lying he was being ignorant because his people F'd up.

oh the insurance corps get a free lunch all the time, the only reason we got medicare was so they would not have to pay as much for the elderly, course they use to use pre-existing condition to not cover them as much as possible, collect coverage from them all their life, then we they need it, drop them

The whole thing was stupid to begin with! Why did the Dems insist on putting something that should simply be law as with any discriminatory practice! Once again, democrats take something as simply as “pre-existing conditions" and tie it in to a failed law when the best thing would have been to make it against the law to discriminate against those with pre-existing conditions!

    Well done Democrats, you rock!

It appears you don't know that each state has a State Insurance Commissioner. His job is to regulate and control the insurance industry in his state. Insurance companies do not police themselves.

If your in the business maybe you can answer a couple of questions.
Do you really care about cost containment, or do you just pass it thru?
If you do care. Why are the costs going up so much faster than inflation?
How does your administrative costs compare to Medicare?

And you're still wondering why Trump won? Keep making excuses and repeating talking points.

remember why we got the ACA, insurance cost were rising 15% a year

"Wal-Mart Memo Suggests Ways to Cut Employee Benefit Costs " 2005

    http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/26/business/26walmart.ready.html?pagewanted=all

"Wal-Mart executives said the memo was part of an effort to rein in benefit costs, which to Wall Street's dismay have soared by 15 percent a year on average since 2002. Like much of corporate America, Wal-Mart has been squeezed by soaring health costs. The proposed plan, if approved, would save the company more than $1 billion a year by 2011."

"Ms. Chambers acknowledged that 46 percent of the children of Wal-Mart's 1.33 million United States employees were uninsured or on Medicaid."

an interesting Article, Walmart claims Healthcare raising by 15% a year back in 2005 under complete republican control...

Did you want to start a new thread about Wal mart?

And many people wish the yearly increases were only 15% now.

For a family of 4 who were residing in Louisiana, no subsidies, and not able to get catastrophic coverage. It was around $810 at that time with Louisiana co-op, who have since closed up shop.

Oh I was able to keep my doctor, just not my insurance plan. The new ACA plan let me see that doctor but it cost a helluva lot more to do so. Obama said we could keep our plan. He lied. He created this entire mess.
