See post #127. They can fire players at their own peril, but when all their good players are gone or on other teams and they lose more money because they got rid of all their talent, then the players aren't the biggest losers here.

You don't get it, do you? People can't protest on company time if their employer does not want them to. Start a protest where you work and see what happens when you do it week after week, year after year. How is it possible that you don't understand this point?

And no one forced these crybabies to sign a Multi Million dollar contract and represent a brand. They CAN be told to stand respectfully during the anthem.

Do you think all the good players will leave their teams, or just a few?

No. The NFL will just do what the NBA does. Players can kneel, but they won't get paid for the game (contractually). It'll ease it's way in over the years.

Also, players in 'contract' years (needing to show great performance to secure a long deal) will now be deterred.

I don't care if someone kneels, personally. The TV doesn't show it so I have no issues. Some of my fellow soldiers care but I've got more important things to be upset over. I think we all do

Are you aware of how the NBA contracts work regarding the Anthem? I'm assuming by this post you don't.

What many on the left are disregarding is the respect aspect. We stand for judges in court rooms, we stand when we address judges in court rooms, there is zero tolerance for protest in court rooms, and so on. Didn't we see a few businesses recently fire employees for not showing respect to their customers, things like bathroom access and shoplifting accusations?

Whether football players are easy to replace or not does not change the rights of their employers, who can force the players to stand or let them go.

Nothing "heil" about it Mr shallow thinker.

Were they forced into the NFL, or did they willingly sign a contract which makes them representatives of it, and bound by their rules?

Our liberal friend doesn't know how the NBA handles people who don't stand for the anthem.

You hate authoritarians but you're telling other to shut up. :confusion:

It's getting a bit tiresome explaining this to people, but freedom of speech works BOTH ways.

Football players are free to express their displeasure with our country during the National Anthem AND football fans are free to express their displeasure with the kneelers.

Oh please. It's the whiny snowflakes here feigning outrage over a 45 second protest during an event they don't even care about. How many fans are in the beer line during the NA? How many people watching at home even see it?
It's simply beyond idiotic how many are pretending to be all up in arms over such a minor, brief, and peaceful "protest".
Face it, the idiot in chief is pulling your strings and you faithful puppets dance right along.

This is actually good news. If enough of you sensitive souls go away maybe I can take my family of 4 to a game for less than $600.

So, actions have no bearing on their words? You can call ANTIFA's message as being against fascists all day long, but they are acting like fascist in their delivery. Its called "tact". And honestly, You ignore the facts that this all started with a spoiled brat being benched, sitting down throwing a tantrum, and to play off why he was pouting, he blamed it on the way Hillary Clinton was being able to do what she did when anyone else would be in jail for her actions....oh, and something about police brutality for good measure. THAT is why the protests started, and I don't see anyone in the MSM and defending the kneeling still bringing up his comments about Hillary.

So why don't they fire these players?

Who says a company can force you to adhere to some forced patriotism procedure

Let's not forget how the defense department pays the NFL to do these ceremonies. That is reason enough to protest right there.

"Leaving" implies they did so by their own choice. If they're fired, as Rich suggested, then they didn't get to choose and like I said, it depends on how many players and how good or crucial they were. If most of the team protests and someone fires almost all their starters and first backups (unlikely) then quality will go down and no one will wanna watch a team that's made up of nobodies and can't win.

This is the point, the players have power and can give voice to those who don't because they have leverage, an owner isn't going to fire his whole team.

Sure, they’re protesting the flag now, too, and that’s why you’re entire counterargument is all about police brutality, without any mention of the flag or the anthem. Right...

It’s as if you know it’s about supposed police brutality, but you just won’t admit it directly.
