The dead were an Ambassador, a State Department Communications employee, and civilian contractors. It is true that they were former military which makes sense so of course I would hire former military most of the,name already trained and thosevwith prior combat experience would be a plus. They were not active duty.

The rifles in question were the ceremonial rifles used for parades and ceremonies which were for the most part WWi era 1903 Springfields and those were not used as weapons. Some of you history buffs may note that in the first year or few months of WWII the Marines still stuck with the Springfield until forced to switch to the Garand. Funny that the Marines did the same in early Vietnam in that they had to be torn away from their M-1 Garands.
