This mom left her kid in a car unattended for 5 min while she went in a store. A do gooder took video with her cell cam of the mom leaving the kid in the car and turned it into the police. An arrest warrant was issued and the mom was suddenly a criminal.

My mom used to leave me in the car all the time for long periods of time. I guess my mom would have got the death penalty.

Thank goodness for the "do GOODER"!

Doing good, possibly saving a child's life, is GOOD....don't you agree??

Do you have any idea how hot a car can get in the summer even with the windows down? Hot enough to KILL...…

This is too much. Why are people hell bent on getting others in trouble?

Anyway, the mom really couldn't take the kid in the store with her?

Each state has its own law about leaving a child unattended in a car. If you are in a state where it is illegal, doing so would break the law.

As a society, we shouldn't live our lives in so much paranoia.

I completely agree. While we all wish we didn't live in a world where unattended children were at risk, we have to accept that we do. And ensure that children are safe.

It would sound like you were lucky. Another advantage you have in life is if any one accuses you of being crazy you can always blame it on your mother for leaving you in a parked car too many times when you were a kid.

OMG! It's "paranoia" to want to keep children safe??!!!

No, it isn't, it's what decent people do.

Besides maybe a little paranoia would have kept alive all those kids who DIED when their parents left them in cars......or doesn't that matter to you?

Does it matter how he dies? It is irresponsible to leave any child alone in a car for any length of time in any weather conditions.

When I was a kid cars didn't have air conditioners and people left kids in the car all the time with a the windows down and the vents open.

But times changed and pedophiles began to seriously hunt children waiting for parents to let their guard down to and take the opportunity to snatch children.

You can't pretend you wanna keep the kid safe if you are attacking their mom over running to the store. It's not like the mom abandoned her child in some lot somewhere. Just because accidents happen when kids are left in cars does not mean every other mom should not be allowed to make judgement calls when they run to the store with their kids.

It's a cotton wool society full of wet flannels. She was a victim of one of these wet flannel do-gooders.

My mum used to leave me alone in the car aged three.
That is when I learnt to drive.

Walmart here has a new feature where you order on the cell and they deliver your groceries to the car. I'd say use that and make sure you never run out of anything -- and convenience stores are crime magnets in the first place.

in this day and age, there's just no excuse. seems every other day we read about a small child (or pet) dying or being rescued from a hot car. PSAs remind and warn during the summer months, social media rages and shames....

a good rule of thumb: if you'd be mortified to have it plastered all over Facebook, YouTube, Live Leaks,
    don't do it.

    Read the OP link

"Virginia, like most states, has few guidelines about how closely parents are expected to supervise their children. As a result, I was charged not with leaving my son in the car, but with the misdemeanor of contributing to the delinquency of a minor."

How did she contribute to his "delinquency" and what was the kids delinquent behavior?

    NOBODY attacked the mom.

They reported a CHILD left alone in a car.

ANYONE, who is concerned for children would and should report a child left alone in a car....it is for the safety of the CHILD not the comfort zone of the Mom...

    Does nobody read the links?
The only danger to this child wellbeing was this busybody and a hyper militant CPS government program that justifies its existence and budget by the volume of children they take from their rightful parents.

Ya, people concerned for children's safety are "busybodies"....to those who don't care about children...

What do you think attempting to get the mom in trouble is? The weather was comfortable. The woman who took the picture was a typical busybody. The end.

Again, the child was in no danger. That's a busybody. I expect you would agree that Zimmerman was being a busybody no?
