    Words by politicians to the public in statements are carefully chosen. Many other words besides 'monkey' could've been used. It was a subtle racist message, no doubt. Maybe not so subtle.

    Well they LIKE Watermelon and Fried Chicken so it can't be racist (I'm channeling Trump supporters here. LOL)

    What I hate about ******* like DeSantis is they say it to cameras. I don't like some of the BLM folks either. There are BAD people in both groups, but no good people among white supremacists.

    Here is what he said: "The last thing we need to do is monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state,"

    The context, and the meaning of "monkey" is clearly not to screw something up.

    Unless you want to read "monkey this up" as black people being socialists who want tax increases and to bankrupt the state, which doesn't even make sense.

    You can say the word monkey without being a racist you know.

    Monkey around doesn't mean putting on blackface and bailing cotton.

    Thanks, but where did anyone refer to a black person as a monkey? The only people who are associated monkeys with blacks are liberals all while they call someone who didn't a racist.

    Well, don't think the D's cannot come back with a long list of people under investigation (or worse) in the Trump Administration...

    I have no idea who Andrew Gillum is, not living in Florida.... But he's the D choice for governor, and I assume all D's will get behind that choice...

    Learn you history. If your a public figure and you aren't aware that using Primate connotations at or about a black person or black people will get calls of racism. Whether your racist or not. So either your too stupid to get it, and don't deserve your office, or your doing it on purpose, and your a racist.

    I reject your premise that I have to worry about using the word "monkey" in any way, shape or form.

    I'm not allowing people to decide what words I can, or cannot use.

    Democrats need to stop this monkey business of calling everyone racists. Seems like as usual they're going apeshit on something that is at worst a misplaced common expression. These people never think for themselves, it's always monkey see, monkey do.
