Agreed. Republicans have weakened themselves by constant infighting. Even on this thread, we see Republicans screaming "RINO" at those who aren't extreme right. I left the Republican party because of that hard shift to the right. The far right screams "RINO!" then bitches because former Republicans leave the party to be become Independents or Libertarians.

With McCain dead, they Republicans have another shot at it. Just saying No isn't a proper plan. If they vote down another partial repeal just to spend years negotiating a replacement while millions of Americans linger, the result could be a Democrat President in 2020 with a marginal Republican Senate and a Democratic House. The Republicans need to work smarter, not harder.

The whole half-staff thing, the numerous snide remarks about those who are (or not) invited to McCain's funeral, etc. Geez, all Trump et al need to do is shut up for a few days and this will all slide into the past once McCain is buried. All Trump and his fans are doing is building a bonfire out of a matchstick forcing people to remember the character of Trump and company 9 weeks from now.

 

TBH, it was a "skinny repeal" and kept major parts of the program like Medicare. The problem is that the Republicans don't have anything better to offer. They've been screaming "Repeal! Repeal!" for 9 years but can't offer a plan for the future.

Why would it take so long to make a statement on McCain? Yes, I know you're busy but you can still make a statement. Hell, we're talking about the guy who tweets at least five times a day.

My point being that no matter what, Trump would have done in regards to McCain the leftist allied MSM would also have gone out of their way to roast him. He could have gotten on national television and issued a tear jerker of a eulogy and STILL the leftist-allied MSM would roast him, period. Trump had good reasons to consider John McCain an arse-hole of a RINO and dedicated political enemy. McCain would have danced a jig had Trump gotten impeached during his first year in office.
