And that is why we can never win against insurgents.

If you kill enough insurgents, they stop insurging.

You will never kill enough because you constantly make more when you murder civilians.

    I didn't say "murder" civilians.

Except that's exactly how the families of dead civilians killed by US troops are going to see it, especially when said troops walk away without any punishment.

They are going to see that anyway even if the killings are totally justified.

And the unjustified killings just add to it. Loose ROEs just guarantee the insurgents continue to grow.

Not necessarily. I believe if you kill enough they will reach the point where they fear death more than they hate Americans. You just have to give Americans soldiers the freedom to get to that point.

Insurgencies have been suppressed before you know.

Through mass murder and the mass violation of human rights.

Should we set up concentration camps and forcibly starve Iraqi civilians like the British did with the Boers?

I noticed that right away. Typical Marine deployments were for 8 months. For this guy to have served in Iraq for 4 years, he would have had to have done 6 deployments to Iraq. Some Marine units, such as the one my son served in, did 3 tours in Iraq between 2004 and 2007. I find it highly unlikely that some Marine unit did 6 deployments to Iraq, and so this whole thing smells of BS.

What do we say to families of dead civilians killed by reckless drone strikes by an expanded program?

    I'll wait for your deflection.

Don't interrupt them while they're chowing down on their invisible Cherry Nut Cake.

Not to mention no commander would ever give that order.

Post number 38 is a prime example of this liberal hypocrisy.

A question that would seem to be predicated on me supporting droning civilians, which I do not.

Who said you supported anything? Do you have a set of nuggets to answer the question? I'll repeat it (funny how I'd say you deflect and you did just that)

We say the same thing to them that we say to families of civilians killed by jumpy infantry with rifles: empty apologies and nothing further than that (maybe a pittance of blood money).

How much money did those affected by the reckless and countless drones strikes receive?

I have no records on that. Money disbursed to families in Afghanistan has almost zero oversight. It’s one of the areas that has become an unaudited black hole.

Jesus, guy. I was being sarcastic with you this whole time. Relax.

This thread is a ****ing joke.

No Marine was on a 4 year tour in Iraq.

It’s not a joke. I’ve personally heard stories of infantry guys shooting through doors or walls and killing civilians, admitted to by the infantry guys themselves.

    Charges they faced? Zero.

I've personally heard of civilians in Iraq or Afghanistan, lacing grenades through their shirts into vests, and detonating themselves into crowded military and civilian populations.

    War is hell man.

And we have zero chances of defeating an insurgency so long as we keep murdering civilians.

How do you win a war without civilian's dying?

If you have the answer to that, I suggest you take your IMM to the White House
