Had to go to RT to find this truth!

    https://www.rt.com/news/438007-china-australia-naval-exercise/

China joins Australia’s largest maritime drills
for 1st time amid South China Sea row
Chinese troops are taking part in Australia’s largest maritime exercise for the first time, despite recent tensions between the nations. They are among 3,000 personnel from 27 countries taking part in the drills.
The biennial naval operation, ‘Exercise Kakadu,’ is hosting 23 ships and submarines from across the Indo-Pacific region off the strategic northern port of Darwin with the aim of training the navies to cooperate effectively at sea. . . .

    Why so secretive Australia?

    Is RT truthful or not?

    Don't :flagcanada:ize Australia.

This guy decides he has had enough of society and decides to have a tree change, a major one.

He finds a real estate agent that covers all of outback Australia. "I want the remotest place you can find." he asks.

Finally he moves. The place is out the back of no where. 100 miles to the nearest neighbors. He packs a years supply of food and stuff and moves out there.

One year to the day there is a knock on his door. On opening he sees this giant hillbilly grinning at him.

    "G'day" the hillbilly says
    The man replies "Hello"
The hillbilly informs him he saw him move in and figured he wanted some privacy which is why he waited a year to come say hello.

"I decided since you were new here and didn't know anyone that I would throw a party for you if you don't mind." the hillbilly offers.

"No problem" said the man, "it's been a while since I talked to people a party would be great."

"Great" said the hillbilly, "next Friday night at 7"

    "Fine" said the man.

The hillbilly stopped for a second and said "There will be a lot of drinking"
"That's cool" said the man "I don't mind a drink."
The hillbilly thought for a minute.
"There will be a lot of fighting"
"That's cool, I can handle myself if I have to".
"There will be lots and lots of wild sex"

"Hey man, I have been here alone for a year, that part I won't mind".

"Good" said the hillbilly "See you Friday"

"No problem" said the man. "Oh, by the way, how many people will be there? "

The hillbilly replied.. ... "Just you and me! "

We are lucky in Aust. We don't have a leader who bags our journalists and accuses the media of lying to us. The ABC is pretty reliable.

Oh yeah, for sure. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Recent events at a tennis match and the subsequent fallout have shown me that our media are not as bad some.

In the past I would of said the ABC was very reliable, but now I don’t see them any more reliable than the others, but still better than the ***** coming out of America. Give our media time however....

I haven't watched commercial news for some time, so my views won't be balanced.
What particular thing caused your change of opinion about the ABC?

I predominantly watch the ABC and SBS for my news. As for basic news both locally and nationally it still leads the pack. However I have seen a substantial shift to the left in their current affairs content. This could be because the government of the day is firmly right and have pulled some of their funding.

Understandable if you were a teenage brat, but they are not. They receive taxpayers money in order to bring us true and unbiased news. Why? Because unlike the privately backed commercial stations owned by millionaires and consortiums, they are owned by the Australian people, or so they keep telling us. Therefore their responsibility is to the Aistralian people, all encompassing. That means both sides of the political divide.

Somehow along the way they have shifted, perhaps when the openly socialist Ray Martin became a consultant to their current affairs content. Whatever the reason, and there will be one, they are not as unbiased as they used to be.

I guess it depends how far left or right you sit. The extreme right would tell you that the ABC is a communists playground, the far left would tell you that the ABC are the most unbiased and righteous media outlet in the world. My view from the middle sees a media outlet once touted as a bastion for truth and integrity, slowly eroding under the pressure of an increasingly tribalistic consumer.

“Pick a side”, the hungry and outraged yell from the sidelines, and unfortunately for all Australians, I think they have.

The ABC cops it from both colours of the govt, whichever is in power.
When I was about 12, I saw" this day tonight" when they did a stunt. The vertical/ horizontal hold was tweaked in the studio. Bill Peach then said" we are leaning to the left again"

The article was about the voracious and arrogant behaviour of the Chinese and their uncultured ways of dealing.
Rio Tinto doesn't belong to the government, so Joe Hockey could not sell it.

And if he could sell it, - - - -
you need laws requiring Australian citizenship to purchase.
Most of the world does it. Mexico for example.
I remember the Japanese in the early late seventies buying up Southern California.
    The good parts.

Things were vastly different when Bill Peach was around. Back then you could rely on the media for uninfluenced narrative, or at the very least be confident it was somewhere near the truth.

Then again, politics was vastly different, populism wasn’t popular, and for most part government seemed more for the people and less for themselves.

However in my opinion something has dramatically changed at the ABC.

You don’t see any lefties sticking up for Bolt, Jones, or Sky. On the flipside you don’t see many righties going in to bat for the ABC.

Perhaps the truth can be found somewhere in that hazy narrative between.

If the righties (bolt, jones or Murdoch tv with peta credlin) stopped pushing their partisan barrows there might be agreement.
Gerard Henderson and phil Corey regularly appear on he Insiders.
We saw tony Abbott on the7.30 report for the first time in? how many years because he got his nose out of joint.
We have an adversarial parliament and that's the way it goes.

I’m sorry I am not sure what point you are making? It is most likely me not understanding your context.

What part does an adversarial parliament play in the supposed unbiased, owned by all Australians, ABC and their current affairs content?

Bolt and the other rusted on righties work for and are paid by conservatives to spew their one sided rhetoric, what is the ABC’s excuse for aligning with the left? Considering they are selling themselves as being “for ALL” Australians.

You ask me why my opinion has changed on the ABC, it is because in the past you were able to rely on them for impartiality, now not so much. I will still watch them, but now I watch with scepticism like I do with the other broadcasters. I am disappointed in them. It seems they can no longer be considered for “ALL” Australians.

Let me know what your research reveals.

I do know when Saudis start buying up agricultural stuff, they get gov't scrutinized.
    And apparently go away.
    As did the Japanese.

    Don't sell off Australia.
Invest in a diversified, Australia First, economy. As every nation should.
Food, water, power, luxury goods, building materials, etc.
Sell off your surplus and elect an Australian Trump who gets it!

How simple is that to understand?

Why on earth would we want a Trump. The proof is in the pudding not the ingredients.

It's whether it's edible, let's wait and see, but I feel there are going to be a lot of disappointed people.

From what I have read only about 6% of the growth has trickled down to the workers, the bulk is pocketed by Trump's end of town.

The reason Australia needs a Trump is so
Japanese customers don't get Australian natural gas for less than an Australian.

    Comprende?

Anyone can buy land in the US. Don't have to be a citizen.
We had a Trump and gave him the heave ho.

I don't think the ABC has changed, I think we have. the ABC is balanced compared with the right wing media which was involved with the ousting of Malcolm Turnbull.
