So you are holding God to human standards. That explains it. I am sure that insects see humans as a bunch of meanies by insect standards but that is reality. Superior species act in their own interests. Humans slaughter animals by the millions on a daily basis just for food. I am sure humans are horrible by animal standards but then again humans are the more advanced species and those are the breaks.
I don't understand. You accept God's treatment of humans on the basis of Him having power and don't want to hold such a being to your standards? You prefer to be ruled over by something like that?
Ok, we’re constantly reminded that we’re somehow made in that image. And that humans and a god are sentient, so it’s fair to hold that deity to the standards we hold ourselves. A god worth any praise should be if the highest standards. This one is far from it.
Exactly. If my "moral compass" so to speak, comes from that god, and I see what He does as wrong, I'm just using the standards and intellect He gave me.
Also I wanted to ask, wouldn't that make God a superior being that acts in His own interest? Yes, what you say is true about the place of humans over lesser creatures, but it's never said that humans love insects or animals unconditionally as their "children". We also didn't bring about livestock's existence from the beggining or the conditions of our reality or theirs. To eat meat, we have to kill them. We can't make meat appear out of thin air. If we could, I'm sure most people would prefer it over harming animals, but it's acceptable (even to myself) since there is no other way. God is clearly able to choose options that don't put humans in harms way, but He actively chose not to.
Not by a long shot. It’s ok, humans projected their faults and virtues onto their gods and have done so since they started writing it down. This is a simple case of that line of primitive thinking.
Well you seem to think murder is bad. Human beings slaughter animal by the ton for food on a daily basis. Humans commit the genocide of insects just for being a nuisance.
So what? A superior species dominates. This is reality. Atheists whine about God yet give human beings a pass.
Since we’re not apples to apples on that, I’ll address the second part. I’m far superior in an ethical capacity to this version of god. How so? I’d not make something that could doom itself. I don’t need sycophantic behavior where I’m the center. If I was omnipotent I’d know the problems before they happened and they wouldn’t happen. I’d stop people from raping each other or murdering each other. Unfortunately your version fails terrifically at all of these and more.
LOL! The typical atheist attack on God. Well, then tell us what type of universe you would have created? After that tell us what you have in mind instead of religion. Nothing is not a viable answer. The last century showed us what a Godless society would look like and it was not pretty.
Perhaps.... G-d is a lot more concerned about us human beings than we tend to think. https://www.near-death.com/reincarnation/experiences/mellen-thomas-benedict.html#a08
I'm not too concerned about what they think. I still have to ask, doesn't that make God a superior being that acts in His own interest?
But if the world is run by God, and clearly isn't any better, why is nothing not a better alternative? Besides, what was "not pretty" to you about these societies? Plenty is "not pretty" to others as far as how God runs existence, yet you do not criticize that regime. Why are the human dictatorships worse?
I think the worst part is that we aren't able to even confirm what is and isn't reality. If we did, then things would be much simpler.
I can only hope you are right and God is more benevolent than how He is portrayed in conventional Christianity.
The key difference is that humans don't supposedly love every other human or every animal. I have no doubt He cares for humanity, but it is apparent that He cares about Himself more and might not be as selfless as He is often portrayed.
So if God ran the world in a way you strongly disagreed with, you wouldn't "whine"? I'm curious, is there anything God does or demands that you don't like, but follow because the situation is so hopeless? Or do you simply make yourself agree with everything asked of you? Or, are you fortunate enough to have the acceptable mindset?
Ok, if you don’t have an answer for those assertions this is where you go. I’d have created the same planet but no religion. And no problems on it. What godless society are you on about? You’re becoming enigmatic as this spirals into a word salad.
