Agreed. Why is Trump and the Republicans so afraid of an FBI investigation. Several on this forum have screamed that Ford and the Democrats have broken Federal law. If they are telling the truth then why don't they want the criminals investigated and brought to justice?

Wow. Impressive, but the Republicans are desperate to put Kavanaugh on SCOTUS, so I doubt the vote will be delayed.

 

I suspect the FBI investigation is opposed by conservatives due to the delay it would entail. I sensibly doubt even the FBI could substantially resolve an investigation of the rather vague 30-some year-old claims within a few weeks. The call for an FBI investigation is sensibly perceived as just an effort to delay proceeding until after the midterms hoping by then the Democrats will have a majority in the Senate and could oppose Kavanaugh's confirmation.

not only is there not going to be any wild goose chase investigation by FBI, but Trump is going to shut down that Mueller Fishing expedition and FIRE that clown Rosenstein.

Then Kavanaugh will get confirmed tomorrow.

The FBI investigation would be on Ford, Judge and all the others involved. Nothing to delay Kavanaugh's confirmation.

 

Perhaps I misunderstood Dr. Ford's testimony today but I specifically remember her stating, and I'm paraphrasing: "When I saw that Brett Kavanaugh was on the shortlist and headed toward nomination I fealt a "civil duty" to report Brett and the sexual assault on me. It was my "civic duty".

Its a freaking point against her. One it paints her outcry as politically motivated. Secondly her "civic duty" is to her sister citizens which by her measure she failed. If Brett Kavanaugh was a sexual predator then the "civic duty" is to tell the world ASAP so no other teen girls are groped or worse.

Dr. Ford failed her "civic duty."

Why? Because there was no sexual predator, no one was in jeopardy.

 

Most rape victims don't report. Some women go forward and report. Others have too much shame or are afraid they won't be believed.

 

By what authority could the FBI investigate Ford, Judge or the others? The Senate Committee on the Judiciary determines who has lied and then issues a criminal referral. Without the referral there's no 'crime' to investigate.

The United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary has investigators, over a hundred. These investigators (with committee action, subpoena, contemp etc) have the power to compel testimony and documents. Through its inherent contemp power the Senate can jail. The Committee also has direct access to the Courts to charge statutory contempt and the courts (Judiciary) have little leeway but to affirm the charge if the issue is a legitimate legislative action. In this case the legitimacy is Advise and consent. The Attorney General handles the trial.

Sergeant-at-Arms, tried at the bar of the body, and can be imprisoned in the Capitol jail. The

period (but not, at least in the case of the House, beyond the end of the Congress) until he agrees

Dr. Ford testified that she wasn't raped.

Each of these accusers claimed multiple people around during the claimed assault. And none of them could find anyone to back them up. The only named witnesses disputed their claims.

 

Nobody is afraid of an investigation, after he's sitting in his chair in the SCOTUS, investigate away. However to use it for the sole purpose of delaying the vote will not be tolerated. The motives of the DNC are crystal clear. They said they will not vote for any of Trump's picks, so even if Brett doesn't get in, the next pick will be just as disagreeable to the DemoRATs. To right wing never Trumper's keeping the court neutral or conservative is the most important thing Trump can do to keep the Left from pushing the country further left.

I think she is a VERY troubled woman. One thing that bothered me is that she submitted the names of 4 people who could verify her story, yet all 4 did exactly the opposite. They said they didn't know Kavanaugh or anything about Ford's story. When asked why her lifelong friend Leland Keyser didn't even back her up, she said, "Leland has significant health challenges and I’m happy that she’s focusing on herself and getting the health treatment that she needs. She let me know that she needed her lawyer to take care of this for her. She texted me right after with an apology and good wishes." If Leland knew she was telling the truth, why couldn't she write a letter saying that instead of the exact opposite? When people wrote letters attesting to her character, there were none from her parents and brother. Why? She didn't even produce the notes from her therapist. Why?
I think she really has mental problems that need to be addressed by a psychiatrist. Something is wrong with her.

 

And you found this, with what piece of evidence exactly? Anyone calling for an FBI investigation, is utterly not comprehending the situation. Christine Ford is the most unqualified 'victim' of an assault, ever. She cannot give you a name of the place, she can't give you a date or a time. In fact, let me be brutal: If she really were assaulted, and if she really 'remembered' this assault, she would be able to remember something distinctive about Kavanaugh's physique(or hell, let's say Judge.) Let's say it's something you can examine only physically up close.

I wish the prosecutor had asked that question, because it would have easily put Ford's nonsense to rest.
