Yes, that's a very good point.

...And to follow up, I made a donation today...an upgrade. I am "borrowing" from my Bernie for President piggy bank, but don't worry, I will have it all back by then.

No. It's actually a nonsense point. At least provide some arguments if you're trying to try and turn it slightly into a meaningful argument.

    Wrong!

Message boards, like this one, thrive on conflict which means that ALL points of view need to be heard from. To eliminate any subset turns it into an echo chamber and that reduces revenues.

PF is a top ranked MB by Alexa because it promotes Civil Discourse across the entire spectrum.

They are doing very well without alienating any members by introducing arbitrary conditions like disabling Adblock.

Does conflict pay for the VPS servers?
Because I believe humility will always pay for that.

I'm just trying to help. I don't benefit from this.

Oh, yeah, Sherlock? I do websites for a living. Maybe I did a few that had generated Ad revenue.

It's from trolls that try to sow discord...but PF has this great button labelled "ignore." Sometimes they require a response. Once I put someone on "ignore" they never get off.

I call it giving someone an all expenses paid one-way, no return, ticket to Cyberia. ;)

    This....

I hate PayPal taking a cut for the service. I did a one time donation a few years back and will no longer use PayPal for anything, including this forum so if this forum wants anything from me they need to think of alternative methods.

I don't care if they take a cut.

But I don't trust them nor anyone else on the internet.

I prefer the old school "postal money order" method.

When paypal took the stance of anti 2A and not doing business with 2A manufacturers and shop owners it became clear to me that this corporate decision works against my interest.

    Why reward them?

Good morning yiostheoy, beatiful morning here in the Rockies, deer and elk just outside my camper and a crazy badger keeps pacing on the ridge line. Aspen tree leaves are gold and fall is in full swing. The wild turkeys seem very busy, always on the move.

Love the season and soon winter camping in the snow will be here.

Put up a PO box number.
I don't put my bank info on the web.
I got no problem sending 50 or so, every once in a while.

I have discussed having a PO Box for donations with the owner. I will ask about that again.

How about providing the EFT details of the PF corporate bank account instead?

Funds can only be sent to the account for deposit. If there is a need for crediting the donation to a member then a PM citing the EFT reference and date should be sufficient to connect the deposit to the member.

    e.g.

    PM from DT to PF;

    Date: 10/14/2018
    Amount: $20
    EFT Ref #: ABC123XYZ789
    PF Account #: 99999999-9999
    PF Bank Routing Code: ZZZZZZZZ

    That avoids the PayPal overhead.

a simple p.o. box address and a 'pay to' name... donors can go to post office and get a money order and mail it... total anonymity for both parties... i'd never give out an account # and routing id...

at the post office, they only accept cash for them, no id required... if one is dumb enough to include their own name and address on it, sobeit, but you do not have to fill that part out...

EDIT: oh, and you're not supposed to sign it on the back... nor anywhere else
