I have come to the conclusion that most anti gun advocates are not willing to tell us their real motivations, but rather erect a facade which serves as a pretext for their real goals. This facade is based on an often emotionally laden argument that passing laws that only restrict what honest people can do will somehow restrict criminals. WE don't buy it. We also note that we don't have to have a "plan" that goes beyond constitutionally sound laws that punish illegal activities-to reduce "gun violence", in oder to criticize the fraudulent schemes gun restrictionists advance to harass gun ownership.,
It's not about guns it's about rights and those who are willing to subvert those rights for a perceived sense of doing something. Or something even more evil.
No you don't have to have a plan to reduce gun violence in this country. You don't have to care at all. In fact you can only care about the love you have for guns. You can turn away when you see children being shot to death on the news. You can turn off the radio when news of another mass shooting comes on. That is your right as an American. But some of us love this country and the people in it so we fight to make it better and safer for everyone. But you don't have to join us.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion but the right for my kid to be shot in math class is not something I am willing to defend
Look at the first post in this thread, it links to a site that is sponsored by the Brady Foundation a rabidly anti-gun organization, the entire façade of what they are pushing "safe gun storage," is just one more angle to the overall goal of eliminating the Second and with that the private ownership of firearms.
Really, like in Parkland where the shooter violated a number of "gun laws" that where already on the books, but where not enforced, for had they been MSD would never happened. But yet even with those laws that could have prevented that mass shooting, the anti's call for even more laws that will not be enforced. There's something to be said about trying the same thing over and over again hoping for a different result. If you truly cared about protecting children you would be demanding the existing laws be strictly enforced, versus demanding even more that will be ignored by criminals and the insane and too many times law enforcement. But you don't, because that is not your underlying goal.
With the Heller and McDonald rulings in play, such arguments are now effectively moot. It does not matter how common certain firearms are used in the commission of criminal actions, as their ownership for legitimate uses by the people, unconnected to militia services, is protected by the constitution.
We are not lots of countries, we are unique and have rights very few in the world enjoy. You don't like that, there's planes leaving the U.S. every day, pack up and get outta here.
Oh c'mon there's lots of countries where gun control works! We've got Mexico, Russia, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Venezuela.... Clearly gun control prevents crime.
Oh yea. And just give the anti's a chance and they will turn the U.S. into a s-hole like Haiti or Venezuela. And I find interesting how this thread was to be about practical gun storage advice from a anti-gun site and has been twisted hard left into a debate about gun control.
Gun violence is at a fairly low rate historically. Compared to the 1980s and 1990s, it's practically peaceful.
We are not like other developed countries. We have 25 times more gun deaths. It is awful. I plan to stay and fight to make it better
I await your plan to reduce gun deaths in this country and how you can show that it is already successful in other places.
We've already done it. Not sure how, but we have. Our murder rate (most of which is by guns) is about half of what it was in the 1990s. In that time, the developed world had very little reduction of murders. I think it's the mass incarceration that began in the late 1990s.
Yea and we have societal problems unlike anywhere else in the world. Why don't actually use your efforts to solve the underlying problem versus going after a tool?
Simply put, the dude has his head so far up his 4th point of contact that he or her needs to remove the wallet to talk without mumbling.
Please show me where that plan has worked successfully on a large city, state or country. I am always willing to look at ideas that work
