I just told you, you cannot apply from an embassy. They will do it at the port of entry.

They will apply, and they will be denied.

This is like talking to a wall, and it hasn't even been built yet.

I mean Vietnamese from Vietnam. Most left after US pull-out, and were referred to as 'Vietnamese boat people'. It was a long journey for them, but many managed to apply for asylum in US, and were granted entry. Good example of people who came through many countries.

Yeah, during war, when they were being hunted down and killed....as our allies....

Is this seriously what you're going to try to use as analogous to a bunch of people flying foreign flags being bused to our border?

I have already had to live in fear of Mexican gangs. I had to cut through back yards on my way home from school because they threatened my life. I was afraid when I was robbed at gunpoint on my way to the library. Maybe we should tell the victims of gang violence that they are just having irrational fears!

Did they decide to turn back? There is talk of a sponsorship program where people like you can support some of these people. How many would you like?

Of course you can apply from an embassy. You are confused or lying to confuse the issue...

-how much manpower do you think will be needed to process the applications
-how much do you think that will cost
-how long do you think it will take to process and then reject them
-where do you think they will stay in the meantime
-what do you think that will cost
    -are you ok with this

Perhaps two parts of the solution might be 1) change our rules regarding asylum 2) come up with a process for applying for asylum which doesn't require coming to the US to do it.

Yes, serious facts. I don't care who they are. They are coming, they will apply and they will be denied.

I don't know what you are trying to argue, other than you are upset about it. Your feelings won't change it.

For the 3rd time, no, you cannot.

    https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/how-obtain-protection-us-embassy-consulate.html
You Cannot Apply for Asylum at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate
Unfortunately, U.S. embassies and consulates cannot process requests for this form of protection because, under U.S. law, asylum seekers can apply only if they are physically present in the United States (or at least at a U.S. border or other point of entry).

    No, that's not what happens.

What happens is they come, they cross the border, they get added to the 400,000 backlog cases, then they get released into the US to be as central-americany as they can be with a summons to appear years from now.

I'm guessing they're not going to be allowed to cross that border in the first place, and if they are, we'll have some nice tent cities waiting for them to remain in custody until their hearing.

That'll cut down on the people coming north.

With all the noise being made about this, the military has no choice but to exercise the show of force.

Since you can't wish them away, I guess they'll just have to process the applications as long as it may take.

It seems people are upset about this because Trump is upset. Tough luck, because it's happening and your anger won't make it go away. You are only tormenting yourselves. They'll just have to process them, and turn them back.

According to "last-in-first-out" policy the applications can be denied on the spot unless all supporting documentation is presented with the initial application. These guys will not have the documentation, so they will be denied.

The Caravan is headed for the Main Texas Border Crossing. That confuses you, huh?

Wasn't the 2000 NG that still is down there, for show? Make up your mind.

If they are trying to come legally, they should be seeking asylum in neighboring countries-they are not.

Studies show refugees do best when held close to their country of origin.

But like in europe, they instead seek to go where the freebies are highest.

Yes I read it, and I stand by what I said and quoted.

Embassies cannot, and will not accept asylum applications, but can try something else in extreme or exceptional circumstances. The "caravan" people are smart enough to take the asylum route which is why they are headed for the border.

There is yet another caravan forming-north of the border and heading to the polls.

Why, do they have their own immigration system?

    They have chosen Texas.

No, they don't. Immigration enforcement is a federal task.

As long as Trump pays for the troops from the Republican political campaign budget.
