That ^^^comment was the product of misunderstanding the terms 'nazisim' and 'fascism' and 'totalitarianism'.

In principle, I do not care who in Brazil is president or not ....

But in principle it is an exemplary example of how stupid democracy tired voters can be!
Especially absud are the many votes from the Favelas ... this are the famous/infamous neighborhoods of the poor where a high crime rate with drug cartells are, etc.
The people got really upset when the government at the time, before the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics, joined police forces with the military to ensure peace and order at least temporarily for it in them ... also because there were many (hundreds) of victims of the actions.
Now these people are electing a guy to president who wants to engage not only with soldiers instead of police, but also with tanks and airborne combat helicopters targeted at drug mafia houses.
(His own clear words at election campaign)!

This testifies to a gigantic intelligence of the voters!

That is what we have all been taught, but the truth, as revealed by the actual historical record contradicts many popular misinformed notions about the complex insane evil that is totalitarianism.

"It has already been noticed that the Nazis were not simple nationalists.
Their nationalist propaganda was directed toward their fellow-travelers and
not their convinced members; the latter, on the contrary, were never al-
lowed to lose sight of a consistently supranational approach to politics.
Nazi "nationalism" had more than one aspect in common with the recent
nationalistic propaganda in the Soviet Union, which is also used only to
feed the prejudices of the masses. The Nazis had a genuine and never revoked
contempt for the narrowness of nationalism, the provincialism of
the nation-state, and they repeated time and again that their "movement,"
was international in scope like the Bolshevik movement, was more important to
them than any state, which would necessarily be bound to a specific terri-
    tory."
The Origins of Totalitarianism, by HANNAH ARENDT, Meridian Books , A MERIDIAN HOOK, Cleveland and New York, 1958.

Her works (‘Between Past and Future’, ‘Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil’, ‘The Human Condition’, ‘The Jew as Pariah: Jewish Identity and Politics in the Modern Age’, ‘The Life of the Mind’, ‘Men in Dark Times’, ‘On Revolution’, ‘The Origins of Totalitarianism’ and ‘Rahel Varnhagen: The Life of a Jewish Woman’ ) do not define nazi fascism as global totalitarianism.

She made sure she defined the globalist initiative of Soviet communist differently than the nationalist-volk imperative of German fascism.

She described the USSR's "Socialism In One Country" as similar to Nazi propaganda designed to convince other nations that their objectives were limited to national territorial concerns and thus less threatening than a totalitarian scheme to dominate the world. It worked.

Disgusting attempt for blaming the messenger. Perhaps Australia has moved to the right that it believes this is all fine and dandy like the Trumpters but the rest of the world's papers are decalring him a Fascist.

Enjoy whatever you are up to in Australia that this is the kind of behaviour you find normal. I do not think some other Australian posters here will agree with you but at least I know now what you are made of.

Will you get with reality. He is recognised as Fascist by most of the world. The only reason we have had conversations on fascism is due to your support for states moving towards fascism like Hungary and your support for people who will take us there like Trump, Le Pen and Bannon.

Too soon to say about Brazil but Trump is not at all the way the spin machine is presenting him. His aim is to ensure all equally follow our laws but he is not harming others.

The problem with curing the corrupt is they fight back. They love what they did. They would kill Bolsonaro on the spot. Watch for them to kill him or try.

Suppose you explain why you liked the corruption of the still present government?

Apparently a huge part of the public in Brazil intends to end it. Brazil swears in their president in January. Why keep smearing the president of the USA. Trump is doing excellent things. I feel more free with him than with Obama.

The problem with curing the corrupt Trumpers is they fight back. They love what they do. The latest nonsense to come forward is that of birthright citizenship. Trump and his followers feel the House slipping away forever, and are trying any and everything to gin up the base to vote.

I am living in corrupt CA where the Democrats own this state. They promise plenty but at what expense? I know, higher taxes. Then after they tax us on false promises, they then promise to do right the next time. As our highways suffer, they promise us a train. The train is definitely getting built using the highway money. A damned shame they lie to us all the time.

We have no way of knowing how this will work out for Brazil.

I think that the people, who are predicting doom, are the same type who predicted doom for the USA.

As we have witnessed here, the only doom and gloom is that which has been wrought by "The Resistance". I suspect more of that same idiocy will infect Brazil.

One of the things which is involved in all these moves to fascism is Israel. Some in Israel were apparently blaming the Jews who were killed in Pittsburgh for this happening. It's all pretty disgusting
    https://grayzoneproject.com/2018/10...tsburgh-pogrom-and-echo-the-killers-rhetoric/

Why would they speak so of a Jew? Not their kind. Indeed they had trouble even recognising them as Jews

The difference being that of course Israel is extreme right and so a supporter and supported by those moving in that direction where as the majority of AmericanJews are progressive.

Likewise in Brazil Jews are being torn apart. Again most of them are progressive but they want Israel supported and I now know that what I suspected earlier on is so Bolsonaro is one aligned with Israel. According to this article it has turned Jew against Jew

    https://www.jta.org/2017/04/07/news...conservative-pols-popularity-rises-in-rio/amp

which one one level you could say is horrible but on anther level is and has been since before the creation of Israel reality.

What we seem to be seeing is the people aligned with Israel moving to the extreme right or dirty fascism as in Brazil. They are supported by those supporting Israel - except that of course those supporting Israel are only supporting Israel because they are wanting Armageddon and Rapture while the majority of Jews are killed - at least that is what the worst american ones are after and they are in Power.

That seems to be the thing that brings them altogether - supposed support for Israel and Israel's support of them.

The leader of the opposition in Israel has though told American Jews to leave and 'come home' to Israel
    https://forward.com/fast-forward/41...pittsburgh-shooting-should-teach-jews-aliyah/

Do not be mad. stay put.

We are also seeing the people who support fascism as it is coming round to be the Christian Right and that appears to be the situation in all countries that are supporting Israel at this time. Of course in the US there are the White Supremacists there as well.

I am not intending on turning this into an Israeli thread but I do think the love of Israel being significant among those moving towards fascism is important to be aware of.

As well as tips on how to get fake news working what do you bet there were those in the US giving a little funding aid

I cant even believe lefties in the US support this kind of opinion above. Wth is wrong with people. Leftists and muslim propagandists have somehow from the first page of this thread openly stated that if your conservative and voted for Trump..all 56 million of us or so...we are all Nazis and fascists. Its insane.

I did a 30 second wiki search on the new Brazilian President and I instantly saw what has them screaming fascism every post. He is just your standard conservative. He probably goes to church on Sundays too so he must be a far right religious zealot too I guess.

    • He is a vocal opponent of left-wing policies, including same-sex marriage,[3]abortion,[4] affirmative action,[5] drug liberalization,[6] and secularism.[7] In foreign policy, he has advocated closer relations to the United States[8] and Israel.

Your right so lets go drag those leftist Fascist ANTIFA wimps out of their ninja suits and ask them some tough questions. Anti Fascism my arse. Or you could just keep calling half of America fascist like your opinion has been doing for some time now simply because they have different views. Makes perfect sense

One, ANTIFA is not the concern.

Two, the Trumpers and their desire for fascism is the concern.

Three, maybe 35% of America agrees with Trump's authoritarianism and fascist views.
