You are right it hasn't been used yet. But the hope that Trump can actually overturn the Constion by EO supported by the courts would only occur by judicial activism. That said I think the whole thing is just another Trump fraud to try and fool his supporters prior to the midterms. Bet the EO never happens.

All the EO would do is reaffirm what the 14th amendment already says until the SCOTUS defines the Constitutional interpretation. Democrats already know this. The "slight of hand" has been going on for a long long time.

If he was going to do it he would have done it. It takes less than five minutes to write an EO ready for his signature. trump is just talk and no action.

But have you thought about how it would be implemented? The anchor babies would still get American birth certificates. Would all parents be forced to prove that they are citizens before their new born babies get their birth certificates? And what if the bureacrats go rogue and issue them anyway as they have always done?

Considering that roughly half of the current illegal immigrants arrived here by airplane...yea...it seems rather brilliant to just find another avenue if the "wall" prevents them from crossing by foot through that one particular border.

There are specific grounds upon which a valid request for asylum can be submitted -- very, very few of which (if any) actually apply to the thousands that have somehow spontaneously decided, all at once, to rush the border to apply for it.

Reality? It's just another damned invasion of the kind that Obama blithely turned his back on in 2014 and ALLOWED TO HAPPEN. Trump isn't going to do that!

As you probably know, but don't want to admit, the number of long-term welfare/anchor baby illegals is most likely greatly from foot-traffic sneak-ins.

Those that are "Documented" with a visa are still a problem, but not as big a problem as the "undocumented" illegals.

Also, I'm pretty sure that the bulk of the illegal drugs and children being dragged into a life of sexual slavery aren't coming in on airplanes either.

Or, at a mere fraction of the cost, we could deploy armed surveillance drones to patrol the border much more effectively. A large fleet of those in the air, plus tactically-placed antipersonnel mines would deal effectively and conclusively with the problem, once and for all....

 

I wonder if people who support this action and have visions of SCOTUS allowing it realize they can kiss the 2nd amendment as they know it goodbye? After all, if SCOTUS allows the president to enforce what he believes was the intent of the 14th amendment then the 2nd becomes fair game by the next.

You are saying you actually believe most drug dealers, human traffickers, anchor babies, and cronic welfare illegals are getting passports, visas, and plane tickets to the US?

"Anchor babies" are born in this country, so no, they aren't taking flights to get here.

Most drug dealers reside in this country legally, so yes, they are taking flights to get around.

Human Traffickers have a number of methods for getting people into the country, and yes, many of them - if not most - can take flights.

Chronic Welfare Illegals are not a thing because you don't get welfare benefits while being an illegal alien.
