Yep, no moral basis, but they claimed it anyway. The church is looking very scummy now. The Anglicans have set the ball rolling with a big payout. The Catholics must be having uncontrollable loose bowel actions.
The Church and their similes are replaced with Globalist P.C. for whose profit did they sell out? They create Free Trade and Globalism as a high moral value. What Would Jesus Do? With their message, Jesus would add to . . . the profits of the money changers! It's 2 AM here. What's the topic?
How Australia finally started to care about asylum seekers and refugees on Nauru A change in sentiment has been driven by doctors, charities, human rights groups and social welfare bodies https://www.theguardian.com/austral...re-about-asylum-seekers-and-refugees-on-nauru I know. It's shameful. At last the kids and their families are being shifted off Nauru. I was not aware that the Nauru govt was being "difficult" about medical transfers and not letting the refugees see Drs on Nauru. The Guardian article was enlightening.
I hate to say that anybody who claims moral basis or moral superiority is actually far from moral anything. Morals are so subjective, we could debate just the smallest moral position of anybody. Ergo when the US proclaim they have a moral right to do anything, we all can see they are trying to justify crimes against humanity by suggesting they are the moral standard. Church may have proclaimed to have the moral soul of Australia or even the world, but the truth is they simply wish you to live in the image they proclaim, flawed or great. I honestly think it is too simplistic to consider church and state as being anything of moral basis or standard as even within itself the moral standards are far too elastic (for lack of better phrase) to be consistent throughout… Oh, and I base my comments across ALL religious persuasions, as we found out in the royal commission, NON were innocent. We even see that none are innocent in compensation as to date only 10 people have been compensated from the recommendations made. SO the last bit of your comment, I wonder about. I don’t know about the validity of that statement, but I just don’t see it…
Agree totally. A landmark $1.1 million settlement between a sexually assaulted student and one of the nation's most elite private schools could unleash a wave of court action against institutions that have made modest payments to victims of shocking abuse. The settlement is expected to have significant implications for the Catholic Church, which settled hundreds of cases of clerical abuse with ex gratia payments of less than $75,000 on the condition that victims waived their right to sue the church. https://www.smh.com.au/national/gee...h-and-other-institutions-20181028-p50cgx.html
My guess more like the State of Wisconsin this election. Minnesota deserves consideration too. Both States can swing with the greatest oscillations in a very short time. As for Orange County, California - Anaheim is home to the Lincoln Club. As old, established Republican Party organization. In recent decades they get no respect although they do generally endorse the Pauls. Orange County, California had the most active chapter of the KKK outside the deep South residual effects persist to this day with a minimum Black population compared to surrounding Long Beach, L.A. County, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. --------------------------------------------------------------------- @Sallyally you should watch Australia with Nicole Kidman. A "creamie" was apparently a half white child, half aborigine. Is it a forgotten reference in the (un) free nation of AussieLand similar to Mulatto / Metis in Free lands ? Although the later in for different reasons. Or could it be the dastardly way YOUR gov't administered to them? Taking children from their parents, Oh My! Australia for Australians Moi Don't ize Australia
Those blokes look so silly. If it weren't for their history, you would not take them seriously. I knew that Idaho was the bellwether state, but which county is the bellwether in Ca ( if there is one)? I'd never heard the expression creamie. Is it a euphemism for half caste? Dana Rohrbacher does not seem like a Republican at first glance- surfer, wants marijuana legalised. "Paul Ryan's Superpac will not be spending spending money on television network advertising in support of Rohrabacher, as it concentrates on districts in which Republicans have better chances" "He was warned in 2012 by the FBI that Russian spies may have been trying to recruit him to act on Russia's behalf, after he met with a member of the Russian foreign ministry privately in Moscow." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dana_Rohrabacher He sounds very... unusual.
@Sallyally Dana Rohrabacher is my Congressman. I admire him as a hands across the aisle sort. And he was no where to be found in the GOP choir regarding Clinton & Monica. Although he is nominally, Republican, it is not the same as the UnFree Party system of Australia. McCain died a Republican regardless of his betrayal on a party line vote. ___________________________________ Are you telling me Nicole Kidman made an untrue film regarding Australia and the treatment of the half caste children? speak clearly into the microphone, please
No idea about Nic. I haven't seen any of her films since BMX Bandits. Dana has been there too long. The world has changed and left him behind. Yes, he doesn't look like a Republican. "Although he is nominally, Republican, it is not the same as the UnFree Party system of Australia. McCain died a Republican regardless of his betrayal on a party line vote." I thought that you didn't have to toe the Party Line in the US? Our Parliamentarians can cross the floor to vote on stuff which is important to them or their constituents, aren't US Congress people allowed to?
Dunno, somewhere I can get serious debate rather than just trolls. You, diuretic, BB and a few others are all that is left from the old school days here but all the good debaters have left. I came here to try and learn but honestly, what I learnt I wish I hadn't. What is going on at the moment with politics is pathetic across the globe, maybe a few countries are trying to get it right but then they are demonised. Talking here will make no difference and I never thought it would, I came here to debate and have my thoughts critiqued so I could grow and learn. I stayed to see if it picked up but to be honest I don't see the point any more.
I think it is just part of the tidal pattern. The world has been like this before and has changed, and will change again. Put the trolls on ignore and plough on. Don't abandon us!
I did that then I just see the few non trolls but I see their crap in the replies. You will survive without me lol I would rather be out doing something about things than here arguing with fools. Let's look at one simple thing. Property, I would love to see the median house price in Sydney drop to below $200k. For some reason, well I know the reason just very few believe me we have taken the "Australian Dream" and turned it into a nightmare. This one thing, combined with the privatisation of "essential services" is our countries cancer. They were called "essential services" for a reason. Anyway you will find me on twitter with my real name, I have nothing to hide.
PLEASE come back here, this forum, this thread should you discover a better political discussion board. Thank you. ttfn
I am an expert in housing. Frankly your prices sound excellent. About what one can expect to pay around Boise Idaho. We have some of those low prices in CA too and you end up far from a large city. And when prices are high, the wages are high. Low wages never support high prices. I recall when my first home cost $15,400 and it was not super high but still a person had to make a high income to buy. A better home cost $28,000 and was very large and up to date. Today that home for $28,000 can nick you about $1.2 million dollars.
Were I to be granted a wish, it would be that the public actually understood Reaganomics. Since I have long been daily subject to the economy of CA, what he did was perform a miracle. Democrats for an odd reason do not understand it and smear him over this economic idea. Reagan was on solid ground and the prosperous economy during his admin and later shows this The main best part of Reaganomics is called the Accelerated Cost Recovery system and it boosted industry quite quickly providing millions of jobs. .
Reagan gave us a record deficit, a near Great Recession, Reaganvilles with homelessness, welfare for the rich, and over 200 needlessly dead marines in Beirut.
What Australia do, is up to Australia. I have a question for Australians; are you interested in trade with the UK if/when the UK leaves the EU? So, about Australia, how does Australia feel about the UK and Brexit and trading and relations with the UK? Hoping for an Australian answer, an answer that's from Australia, since it's a thread about all things Australia; I'm looking for their answer and not UKIP's tbh, who already have an answer, but it doesn't matter what their answer is, it matters what Australia's answer is; what are Australians actually saying if saying anything at all, about trade with a post Brexit UK?
