What's interesting about this prediction that Trump might very well win re-election in 2020 is that it is written by a leftist working for a leftist media outlet. It essentially starts off by pointing out how EVIL Trump is and yet admits that (paraphrased) compared to the current slate of leftist political clowns thought interested in making a presidential bid in 2020, he's clearly got the edge in both charisma and over all ability. Ouch! Now that's going to leave a mark!

    https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/11/2020-presidential-race-trump-starts-favorite/575344/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+AtlanticPoliticsChannel+(The+Atlantic+-+Politics)

The article or combination of political prediction and woeful leftist lament is quite lengthy and goes on to lay out how the Left can beat Trump . . . if only -- alas -- the Left pretty much completely change the scum bucket nature of their current political tactics. Now what are the odds of that happening?

But what's amusing is that the leftist writer seems most outraged that unlike leftist presidents of the past Trump actually tries to keep the vast majority of his campaign promises . . . and then leftists wonder why they have got political problems inside these United States of America.

Why Trump Is the Favorite in 2020

It is unlikely Trump will run for president in 2020...though he could. The Constitution does not prevent a felon from running and his minions will not care.

Every Democrat Chairman is a walking Trump re-election campaign commercial. And Trump doesn't have to pay a dime for them.

Waters, Naddler, Cummings, and the other Democrats just can't help themselves, because they are now servants of the way-left wacko Fascist groups.

Naddler already plotting a SCOTUS coup on Kavenaugh is just laughable.

    Incumbents are always favourites
Dems's will do what the GOP did in 2016 primaries but without the Trump factor it won't go well for them.

Trump dominated GOP primaries, he was a force of nature. If the Dems can summon some one like that it for their side it'll be a good fight.

The only person I think the Dem's could market to win is Michelle Obama BUT they would be stupid to do so. The smart card for the Dem's here is Michelle in 2024 that would be a hard card for the GOP to fight. If she tries to fight Trump and fails it'll will destroy her "brand" if she sits it out she'll pick up a lot of the swingers in 2024.

If the economy is holding steady he has an advantage going into 2020. It would be more difficult for the Democratic candidates to topple him. That being said, if the economy shifts and and we seeing massive layoffs and a downward stock market, even the loyalists will not be enough to get him re-elected.

Michael Moore said that Trump is an evil genius.

But there is a deepening fault line: half the country thinks Trump is a genius, and half the country thinks he is evil.

That's how it is in the land of 1000 dances and 1000 cultures.

I say Trump is a genius and the greatest president since Lincoln.

Whether the Union holds or not.

with only 2 years to go it looks unlikely.

There were many predictable factors behind the 2008 recession which is why many companies saw it coming.

Unfortunately too many people believed it Santa in economics at that time, also mortgages and Bill Clinton's horrendous crime bill made the crash inevitable.

Actually you are half correct. He might not run in 2020, but that would be due to age and ill-health. Unfortunately for the Left, however, Trump seems to be one of the few presidents in history who physically thrive on being president. As for the Impeachment shibboleth clutched to the breasts of Leftists and their RINO political allies; any attempt by the Left and their RINO allies to impeach Trump will only increase Trump's popularity nationwide, just as it did for Bill Clinton. So impeach away!

Yep; all the Left's leadership keep doing is end up digging deeper political holes for themselves and for the Dem Party as the nation SEES and HEARS what they really and truly are . . . and does not like any of it. It is as if they are campaigning FOR Trump.

"Thank you, that’s my question,” Maher added. “I feel like the bottom has to fall out at some point, and by the way, I’m hoping for it."

"I think one way you get rid of Trump is a crashing economy. So please, bring on the recession. SORRY IF THAT HURTS PEOPLE, but it’s either root for a recession or you lose your democracy.”

Fortunately about half the people still want to hold the constitutional representative republic and hope the good prosperity brought by the hardest working man in politics lasts.

He's at least as impressive as Reagan with the caveat that I personally cannot stand the man. Of course I will still vote for him, because he does try to keep his promises and what he promises is generally in this nation's best interests.

Oh.....I doubt he will be impeached. He will be allowed to finish his term then face State and Federal charges without office protection.

Trump is more likely to have a challenge from his own party. Look for Nikki Halley to start her exploratory committee in the next 6 months.
Perfect slogan - "Republican economics without all the stupidity that is Trump ...".

If the economy keeps booming Trump is unbeatable and with the sound economic policies he has put into place the odds are very good that will be the case. The caveat is now that democrats run congress they will actively look for a way to undermine the Trump economy.

Trump's too old for a second term. The world doesn't make that much orange make-up.

He easily beat a field of GOP heavyweights who ran against him in the 2016 primaries; and so it's hardly an issue. But riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight . . . the GOP is going to drop an already thoroughly GOP presidential success for a maybe. The GOP is not the corrupt Left that selects its nominee before the Primaries even occur and GOP voters are not flighty leftists who go for image over proven substance.

That's weird since the Left seems just fine with running over the hill leftist candidates for the presidency . . . Biden, Bernie, Hillary . . . .

He seems very healthy and his recent barnstorming in the election was at a pace many younger men couldn't handle. As someone else noted he also seems to thrive under the pressure of the position

Yep, and yet any House generated bill has to get past a GOP dominated senate and then get signed into law by Trump. So essentially the nation hating leftists currently in control of the House will be spinning their wheels for the next two years until Trump easily wins the presidency again.
