https://www.buzzfeed.com/aliceworkman/nationals-senator-barry-osullivan-gender-female-abortion Well it's interesting to see the reactions. Clearly it's a political stunt but it's kind of funny. I figured a few people would get a kick out of this.
People need to be sent to office on qualifications, not skin color, gender, etc. That is how we got dumb as a stump Cortez and dear community organizer.
This is what a dying government looks like. A few weeks ago the Prime Minister did a bus tour of one of our states in a big bus with his face painted on the side. Only problem is he wasn't travelling on the bus, just flying from town to town and meeting it there. Sadly this pathetic excuse for a government will likely run for another 6 months, so there will be plenty more time for desperate stunts and worthless attempts to get media attention.
I think it was as fairly easily executed display of the many contradictions woven into the current intersectionality driven left.
Heh. I'm very pro-choice, but anyone of any gender, race, or otherwise should be able to have an opinion, and your opinion is no more or less valid. Clearly he isn't actually trans, that's not the point.
I seriously doubt the Senator involved can even spell intersectionality....or contradiction. He is a polyp in the gut of Australian politics. A peasant from the Peasant Party - agrarian socialists unite!
The flaw being that he wasn’t challenged because of his gender, he was challenged because he was wrong.
Your near total ignorance of Australian politics makes all of your posts exercises in ideological box ticking. Very 'four legs good, two legs bad'. Sadly about par for most conservatives around here.
I love how people seem to think that stunts like this are somehow indicative of an actual Trans persons life. All you do is reveal your own self for the rest of us to see.
I think it's funny. They told him he couldn't have an opinion on abortion because he was a man so he says okay I'm a woman. And you can't have an opinion on it if you're a man only if it's the right opinion. And if they get on him about it he can just accuse them of being transphobic.
When people start saying that you can't speak on a subject because of your gender, then you're being challenged based on your gender. How many times have seen "because you're not a woman, you have no say on the topic of abortion" on this very forum?
But unless I've missed something here, nobody actually mentioned his gender until he did. You risk taking the opposite position where no man can ever be challenged on abortion.
All this political correctness has reached mental illness level and I have to applaud the Australian Politician for taking the piss out of it with the gender idea.
