    https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/10/politics/senate-blocks-vote-congress-shutdown/index.html

This deserves to be the biggest story of the day. Mitch McConnell refused to even hold a vote designed to open up the government. Congress has an obligation to resolve the shutdown regardless of the actions of the trump.

The GOP does not care about governing. Only the destruction of regulators and law makers that impede the billionaires controlling this country.

McConnell won't move without the OK from the capo.
The capo won't move without his wall.
The only time he actually does move is FROM a negotiation meeting where the capo starts the meeting off with an ultimatum.

The Senate's job is to pass bills... Mitch is terrified one or two of his caucus will vote with the D's to open the Govt...

They had an agreement with the House to only vote for legislation that the WH would sign. When dems took over the house they reneged on that agreement.

This is political posturing by the democrats and anyone with a brain cell should be able to see that.

The House writes a bill, adds money for the wall, may throw in something for the "dreamers" if they feel generous => no more suffering.

How hard for Nancy can it be?

Thank you.... my laugh of the day....

It was "my wall would stop a caravan in it's tracks", but that was way better...

When the Dems took over the house, any informal agreement Mitchy had with Paulie went the way of the dinosaurs or good Trump deals (both existed, right?)

And you are actively ignoring the drugs, child trafficking, rape and dead Americans at the hands of illegals.

What makes 2019 more dangerous than 2018 or 2017?

Had to laugh. Jim Acosta posted a video on Twitter while standing next to a border wall saying he didn't see the crisis.

I thanked him on Twitter proving that walls work.

Name a spending bill over the last 2 years when he didn't ask for wall funding.

    I'll wait.

Dems are banking on the public giving the Reps responsibility for the shutdown the longer it goes on. They’ll see Mitch’s attitude as working in the their favor.

Trump and McConnell are thwarting democracy. Laws in the US are passed by vote. By shutting down the government and blocking a vote they are both acting like dictators. Americans shouldn't put up with this nonsense. This type of thing doesn't happen in any other developed nation.

The border is secure where there is a wall. You missed that salient point?

250 miles of steel slats does nothing to make those events less likely to occur.

Name a spending bill that he signed over the last 2 years where he was provided authorization to build any new walls.

We have a divided congress. That means gridlock. Didn't you know that? No partisan bills will become law for at least two years. Not worth the post.

Nice to know our federal government is now largely dysfunctional by design for years at a time.

The other point worth making here is the issue of Americans safety. Trump keeps coming up with more hysterical lies about how much danger Americans are in. But nothing he mentions compares to the harm being done by cutting off the income for more than 800,000 government employees. It's a terribly cruel thing to do. People's credit ratings will be harmed, they could lose homes. It's horrible.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell objected to the move, saying that "political stunts are not going to get us anywhere."

Pot, meet kettle. Does he even think before he speaks???

LOL, paychecks vs deaths and paychecks win. No wonder there is no concern about all the deaths in the inner cities, lefties are not getting paid to care.

The dems know this is a political stunt. That is why they are doing it instead of negotiating.
