If extra-terrestrials were to visit Earth, they would be...

  1. vicious, colonizing warmongers, after our resources.

No, I said a theory has to be ABLE to be disproved to be considered science. This is why most conspiracy theories and not considered scientific.

There is evidence. Your claim is blatantly false. I've cited a few examples already.

So you are dishonest as well? ;)

    I am merely citing facts.

The really funny thing about UFOs is that I've never argued that ET is here. I just present the facts that most alleged skeptics and debunkers won't bother to learn. And for this, I am accused of being a believer. The moral of the story: When you present the facts, they are often so compelling that skeptics and debunkers accuse you of professing beliefs. It is the favorite diversion used when they can't speak to the facts.

My official position is that I don't know what to believe. But it isn't all nonsense. Maybe it can all be explained away as exotic natural phenomena, experimental military crafts and the like. But after decades of review of this subject, I find that highly unlikely. The fact is, the military is one of the best sources of impressive UFO reports and encounters.

You haven't cited a single fact. You say there is a difference between unidentified flying objects and extra terrestrial life forms. No doubt about that. There have been many UFO's reported but not a single extra terrestrial found. Yet you started the thread pushing extra terrestrials. And you want to call me dishonest?

Actually, I have not claimed there is no evidence, I am merely correcting your misconceptions about science.

There's plenty of evidence. Eyewitness testimony is evidence. Crop circles are evidence. Did you mean proof? Project Blue Book is evidence. It wouldn't have existed if the military didn't believe ETs exist. SETI wouldn't exist if scientists didn't think there wasn't any other life in the universe.

Project Blue Book had two goals:

    1. To determine if UFOs were a threat to national security, and
    2. To scientifically analyze UFO-related data. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Blue_Book

Spaceships from other planets of sentient beings? I don't think so.. BUT there are many mysterious events recorded.. best I could guess is some kind of interdimensional travelers and not necessarily benign beings. I'll say it... "demons" should not be ruled out

This thread isn't about proving whether they exist or not. Open another if that's what you want to debate.
This thread assumes they exist and asks if they're friend or foe.

In my opinion.. a civilization that could invent star travel would necessarily have high moral standards.. I think an open and free thinking society is necessary for invention.

I didn't say there is scientific evidence. In fact I specifically said there is no public scientific evidence. I said there is evidence that would stand up in a court of law.

I am merely correcting your inability to read. ;)

As Earth history shows, those with technology conquer the primitives. But I don't think we have anything they'd go to war with us over.

Did anyone watch Bluebook Tuesday night? I'm about to watch the first episode.

I pretty much know Project Bluebook backwards and forwards. I expect to see real events addressed but severely exaggerated.

What is true is that Dr. Hynek [Astrophysicist] was hired by the government to debunk UFO reports. But in the end he became a total believer and the de facto father of Ufology.

Hynek is the one who first posited the so-called "swamp gas" explanation. But it didn't take long before he changed his tune.

Okay, they did well by referencing the tracking system he developed. But then they took a hard left and attributed the term UFO - Unidentified Flying Object - to Hynek. In fact that was first coined by Capt Edward J Ruppelt, who was charged with running Project Bluebook. Ruppelt became a believer as well.

Hynek did invent the "kind" classification of UFO encounters, as in a "Close Encounter of the Third Kind". Spielberg hired Hynek as a technical advisor. Hynek also made a cameo appearance in the movie. A number of scenes in the movie were based on real events, such as the police chase.

This very dry documentary does a great job of telling the inside story; in the words of the Press Secretary for the Pentagon in those days - Albert M. Chop.

morality is subjective and you're assuming they're like us, they may not think at all like us... no more than a hive of ants thinks as we do...they could be cold calculating and unemotionally sweep us away without hesitation...we've had many inventive civilizations in our history most were not compassionate or tolerant of outsiders, weakness was exploited...

None of them had the necessities for invention. Ants can't do anything but follow their instincts. A hive mentality is predicated on each doing their assigned task and NEVER thinking "outside the box".

Anyway.. I don't believe that beings in spaceships from another planet are arriving.. something is causing the phenomena.. I'd sooner believe beings from another dimension. Anyway.. carry on . I'm done with this thread

That's where Hynek was landing before he died. The reported nature of various events led him to believe that something like trans-dimensional travel must be involved.

In discussing this with other physicists, I find that the preferred option is that we are seeing time travelers [assuming that something really is visiting the planet from time to time]. Time travel is considered to be more likely than FTL travel.

If they could visit then they could have visited. And if they have been here, then it is easily argued that they might have been here for all of recorded history. With that as a given, then they may have just as easily been involved in our evolution from the start. And the common ancient "myths" from disparate cultures all around the world have to be considered as a potential history, as many cultures believe.

Once you open the can of worms of "If they visited", then all of the implications of that come spilling out. And there is no way to know what role they have played or the real story of humanity.

But if it is possible to be visited, if it is reasonably likely, then they have probably been here for a very long time; and we still exist.

They do not exist, as far as we know.

In your mind, what do the breeding females look like?

"They" almost certainly exist; many of them. That is not the same question as to whether or not they have been here. And more to the point, could any alien race visit. If so, then why not already?

    And this was their conclusion:

"As a result of these investigations and studies and experience gained from investigating UFO reports since 1948, the conclusions of Project BLUE BOOK are:(1) no UFO reported, investigated, and evaluated by the Air Force has ever given any indication of threat to our national security;(2) there has been no evidence submitted to or discovered by the Air Force that sightings categorized as "unidentified" represent technological developments or principles beyond the range of present-day scientific knowledge; and(3) there has been no evidence indicating that sightings categorized as "unidentified" are extraterrestrial vehicles." - https://www.archives.gov/research/military/air-force/ufos.html

Just because someone believes in something doesn't mean it's real.

The thread assumes that they are real, but it assumes they have not visited Earth (otherwise the whole thread would be moot).

PB was created to debunk UFO sightings. What conclusion would you expect from government agency created to debunk these sightings?

    That includes you.

That is from the Condon report. And no one involved in the investigations bought that summary. Hynek was the lead scientist and he said otherwise. Condon played virtually no role in the study. And his summary blatantly ignored a wealth of information. He is famous for stating the conclusion of the report before he read it. ;)

In fact they had a percentage of cases considered to be credible but unexplained. I believe it was about 10% of the cases investigated. Condon's summary completely ignored these cases and misrepresented the facts of the study.

Dr. Peter Sturrock and other scientists have strongly denounced Condon's Summary.
