‘The story keeps changing’: Trump falsely asserts he never promised Mexico would directly pay for the border wall

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...36fa44b80ba_story.html?utm_term=.5d190350dd62

"It was a foundational promise of Donald Trump’s historic presidential campaign: Mexico would pay for his 2,000-mile border wall. But as he desperately fights for $5.7 billion in taxpayer money for the project, Trump now claims he never said Mexico would directly foot the bill.

“Obviously, I never said this, and I never meant they’re going to write out a check,” the president told reporters Thursday at the White House.

He did say it — at least 212 times during his campaign and dozens more since he took office. And he put it in writing — in a March 2016 memo to news outlets that was then posted on his campaign website."

Trump Thought It Would Only Take Three Days to Get Mexico to Pay for the Wall

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump...ys-to-get-mexico-to-pay-for-the-wall?ref=home

"That proposal, titled “COMPELLING MEXICO TO PAY FOR THE WALL,” was the stuff of MAGA fan fiction. Rolled out in a two-page memo in April 2016, the plan, now deleted from the Trump campaign website but retrieved through web archives, was a surprisingly detailed strategy—by Trump campaign standards—for forcing Mexico to cut an 11-figure check to the United States."
    .....................................................................................................................
That's right folks, the Divider-in-Chief had the original proposal for Mexico to pay for the wall deleted from the campaign website. Arguably his signature campaign promise, other than throwing his political opponent in jail, has been scrubbed off his site. Which, if you think about, is emblematic of how he has conducted himself throughout his life. Once the con has been exposed.........lie about it.........and move on to the next con.

The biggest lie is the one where lefties are trying to be "fiscally conservative" by not making a budget for this wall while calling for universal healthcare which will cost $40 TRILLION. I don't care if he said the man on the moon would pay, it doesn't matter. Its laughable to see all of you putting up a fight against $5 billion when you want to spend trillions. And they claim "the border wall wont work" like people will have an easier time getting past a wall than they do getting past NOTHING.

No. Actually the biggest lie is the one being told by most democrats. That the wall won't work because it is old technology. Virtually everything on the face of the earth is old technology. Apparently democrats think they are no long living in houses. They live in this device which somehow repels the rain, cold and heat and intruders. It has no old technology walls, doors, windows or a roof. It has this cloak of invisibility which keeps people from looking in.

And there you have it. It's what some of us have been saying for a few years now. Cult followers do not hold Don accountable for anything he does or says. No lie is too big, no act too incompetent.

The reflexive reaction is to employ a whataboutism, a deflection, an accusation of "fake news," a distortion of the truth, a denial, ANY MEANS NECESSARY TO AVOID ACKNOWLEDGING DON IS AT FAULT.

Is it possible for you to acknowledge Don lied...........and lies all the time.........instead of trying to deflect to something off topic?

How is this deflection? You were talking about both walls and lies. I talked about wall and lies. For you anything that you do not agree with is a deflection.

I have your answer. You can't acknowledge he is a liar. Just what I thought.

Of course you don't care that he lied about Mexico paying for it....If I fell for that blatantly obvious BS I'd pretend I didn't care too.

I agree it's funny Dems are acting fiscally responsible...just as funny as Repubs not being fiscally responsible.

The wall is a joke. A better method is going after those who employ illegals. Mandatory jail time for those who hire illegals will very quickly dry up all those jobs they come here for. No job, no reason to come here. Problem solved. We only have ourselves to blame for the illegal immigrant problem. No jobs....no illegals...it's that simple.

Not one response from Trump supporters on this topic other than deflection deflection deflection.

They know he's an incompetent liar trapped in a corner. But they morph into corn cobs faster than Trump can spray the colour on.

And you are the person I have been against for years, the person who only see the world in black and white. I don't want the wall at all. There are far more efficient ways of cutting down on illegal immigration than building a wall.

Did I say anything about anyone else? Your NPC responses are obvious that you have zero rational thinking skills and can't formulate your own opinion other than "orange man bad".

Every estimate of how much supporting illegal immigrants costs taxpayers is far in excess of even the highest estimate I've seen for the wall.

If the cost of immigration control, to include any wall, is offset by the savings, then that is Mexico paying for the wall.

So, since I don't want a wall, and didn't vote for Trump, you think I "feel for his lie"? I don't care because its meaningless. Has zero effect on me.

I can see repubs thought process, if the wall works at curbing illegals coming in, and it keeps costs of housing, feeding, and educating those illegals down, the wall is more cost effective than programs. I say lets not build the wall AND cut the programs and save on both ends.

Or, going after those programs that provide assistance to illegals and the cities that keep them hidden after they commit a crime to prevent them from begining deported.

Only the most enthusiastic Trump supporters cannot, and will not, ever admit that their hero is a pathologically lying con artist. To do so would be an admission of their own incredible ignorance, their irrational acceptance of a lying buffoon and/or their stupidity for blindly getting on the Trump Cult train. Thankfully these people represent only about 1 in 6 (16.66%) of the population. The vast majority of Americans, a little more than 7 in 10 (over 70%) understand the fact that Trump is a consummate liar.

I'll say one thing for Trump, he has embraced the use of "the big lie" - Joseph Goebbels would be proud of him.....

Math calisthenics. It's not enough that Trump is lying, now his supporters are making up even more ridiculous stories.

If that is the case we don't need 5.7 billion dollars. See how easy that was solved.
