Why does the all knowing, benevolent state allow for the hunting of elephants?

I hate hunters, especially this sort.

I especially despise the bloviators telling us how manly it is to hunt down and kill creatures that have never done them any harm and how the animal actually enjoys dying in terrible pain and mortal fear. To my thinking there is only one way to prove one's manhood and spending a years income to torture and destroy a rare and magnificent creature instead of doing that is nothing more than proof that you can't and probably are deafened by the laughter when you try. These people would be pathetic incels were they not needlessly killing something, as it is they are loathsome, truly vile and wretched examples of the worst humanity can descend to being

I have contacted my local power company and told them I will go with one or another of the alternative companies that constantly ask me to deal with them if I should find out they deal with Topgen and that I have asked a rather large group of Internet friends to do the same. I urge anyone reading this to do that too.

I’m not a fan of shooting young elephants but who’s had veal lately?

I support hunting, but I'll admit hunting elephants is pretty borderline. (They are fairly sentient creatures, and are not carnivores)
Hunting a juvenile elephant is in bad taste, to say the very least.

Maybe because this is in Africa?

Trophy hunting is reprehensible beyond words. You hunt overpopulated species like deer and use all the meat, not endangered animals and especially not the young animals.

Its not borderline is disgusting. They have been trying for decades to get elephants back to normal populations and these *******s go and shoot two of the younger ones for no reason whatsoever and no way in hell am I buying the claim of them charging.

We hunt deer in my area but deer are overpopulated and we use all the meat when we kill them. We also don't shoot young deer only full grown does and bucks.

I actually avoid veal, its one of the few foods I won't eat for ethical reasons. Tying down a young lamb permanently until you kill it is flat out animal torture.

Can you expand on that? Never heard of tying down a lamb thing.
Not a hunter myself, just curious.

The article doesn't mention what kind of rifle was used or what kind of round the rifle was chambered for.

So where's the beef in the story ?

Elephants mourn their dead...they are also the only animal that will adopt the young of other elephants

Sorry I meant calves. They tie down or put small calves in crates to keep them from moving supposedly to make the meat more tender and less "muscly' sp? or something. Supposedly they are starved and blinded according to some sites I have read but those sites have been know to lie in the past so I can't trust them entirely. Either way A) I just don't like the taste anyways cause its a weird texture and B) once I found out I vowed never to eat it again although as I mentioned its not a real sacrifice for me since I didn't like it in the first place.

I have a lot of friends that hunt and fish (I myself am too lazy and hate nature in general cause it has shitty wifi) and they eat what they hunt or catch and at least as far as fishing is concerned, most of the time they release it back unless its a really big fish.

Take it up with the government that allowed the hunt to take place in the first place.

I have no problem with trophy hunting so long as the creature is not endangered and the carcass does not go to waste. Licensed hunts like this are an important part of many local economies and crucial in funding conservation efforts.

But I do think those who need to kill should be finding adult animals. Shooting the young is just, at the very least, lame as hell.

However, are we certain that's a 'baby' and not a small adult? There are different sizes of adult elephants out there.

Those states are led by humans.
Are our leaders a different kind of human?
