House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Saturday she will not take up President Trump’s offer to trade off $5.7 billion in wall funding for a three-year extension of a program providing legal status for "Dreamers," who illegally went to the U.S. as children.

Pelosi, D-Calif., issued a statement just before Trump’s announcement, calling the plan “a compilation of several previously rejected initiatives, each of which is unacceptable and in total, do not represent a good faith effort to restore certainty to people’s lives.”

Looks like Pelosi rejected Trumps offer to legalize Dreamers before he had even made his speech.

Trumps plan was bipartisan and common sense.

However dems seem to want to end the discussion before it even starts.

The house bill that the Dems keep sending that was passed unanimously by the previous senate was bipartisan and common sense.
They have the numbers to pass and override a presidential veto by congress but mitch refuses to even allow a vote.

The wall is just a physical manifestation of trumps ego which is why he is so determined

I suspect she's cranky since Trump prevented her vacation.

She gives not even the illusion that she wants to work with Trump so save those Dreamers.

If walls in specific areas are useless, then all walls around the homes of our rich elites, including Pelosi should be torn down. And this is just how absurd this is.

To call the wall, what you did is just juvenile, IMO, and irresponsible. Like Pelosi. Why in the hell did so many dems vote for a wall in specific areas in the past, and yet now, it is immoral. What the hell does this look like? Be honest, if possible.

The House and Senate agreed not to pass a bill for signing unless all three were on board. The new House reneged on the agreement for partisan political reasons.

    When was this agreement made?

The legislative and executive branches are supposed to be checks of one another.
Not, conceding and shutting down debate because one branch is throwing a tantrum

    trump isn’t a dictator yet

It is Pelosi ego and lack of caring about the Country.

She is not very intelligent if she thinks she will win this battle.

Too many see her ill intentions and support the Pres.

I will be very disappointed if he gives in because he is right

How many walls run through oceans?
    Are these effective?

These house walls, do they have people on each side attempting to breach them?

    Have integrity, if possible.

Actually, there are constitutional rights in this country, a veto is one such right granted to the President. If they fail to pass a bill to Trump's liking that's on them.

Legislation is the art of compromise. The House has decided it is going to be the dictator.

No, but we do have illegals attempting to breach our borders. That's why I don't support DACA or TPS, or any of the above. It is to give them a cop-out(as we did in 85) to continue to enable criminal activity.

Yes, so now the House thinks it can dictate what the government does without the Senate or President's input.

    His ego?

This is what he said he would do as president! He was elected by the people.

    Pretty simple.

    1. How do they become legalized? They get a 3 yr reprieve.
    2. He doesn't open the gov't? Why?

The offer likely will not lead to a deal to reopen the nine U.S. agencies that remain unfunded as concerns grow about the 800,000 federal workers going without pay. Before Trump announced the proposal Saturday, Democratic leaders rejected it as inadequate or even “unacceptable” as details emerged in media reports.
    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/01/19/tru...y-over-immigration-amid-border-wall-push.html

It doesn't seem like much. But it's a start. But the gov't should reopen as part of the deal.

Looks like Nancy wants to continue to shut the govt down. Tragic, sad...supporting drug cartels and sec traffking is more important then getting the govt running, 800k Americans to work and keep Americans safe

He did everything he could. Anyone that has spent time and the border or that lives near it knows walls work and are needed.

It's time to go Emergency Power and have a Republican file an injunction at a District Court that is friendly.

That’s strange, if I remember correctly he lost the vote of the people.
And then the people put the Democrats into the house...

    Interesting

So no, not the people, the electoral college.

Honestly, tRUMP campaigned and promised Mexico will pay for the wall. He had a plan on how to achieve this on his campaign web page.
    Why doesn't he follow it?
