It's like listening that it's legal to toss off gay people of high buildings in some countries, and what's wrong with that kind of nonsense.

Hardly the same thing. Killing innocent animals is not the equal of killing innocent people.

Which why every country on Earth have laws that reflect that.

The fact is, is that trophy hunting only pays the corrupt in very poor countries.

It only shows the argument of "it's legal and so it's okay" is a retarded argument.

Nope. And even if it did, why deny funding for conservation in poor countries? Now you hate poor as well as the melanin rich.

I can source that it pays the corrupt and that it doesn't function as you claim.
So it seems you never looked up if your original claim was true.

    But here,.. buddy

Yes, emotion and logic/animal welfare are hard to reconcile sometimes at the personal as well as the global level.

I am having to make the decision soon on euthanizing a cow who’s an old friend. I don’t hunt except varmints and predator control.

I support those who hunt. There is no logical reason to oppose hunting.

So do so. This isn’t the first time I’ve been around the block on this issue.

That can be a lot less humane of a kill for the animal. I hope you realize that.

I see no one has anything negative to say about the African country that allows this type of trophy hunting and actually makes a profit from it

You want to stop Trophy Hunting then start condemning the African countries that allow and profit from it
But you bleeding heart liberals wont do that because then you are condemning a protected class minority

Right. Let the government solve every problem!!! If our glorious and holy rulers can't solve it, then it can't be solved and everyone ought to just shut up about it.

If it wasn't a capitalist system, the elephant would be a meal for a starving family of socialists.

you realize that they won't have the balls to hunt an elephant or buffalo the way real hunters do, make it fair you want to kill something let it have the opportunity to kill you let's not hide cowardice behind pretending to care for the animal...if they cared they wouldn't be hunting it for sport

You didn't limit your comment to elephants or buffalo, both of which have been hunted with spears and arrows before. You do realize our species hunted the mammoth into extinction without guns, yes? The "make it fair" mentality involves more torture for the animals. I've hunted boar with a gun. I've hunted boar with a bow. Guess which caused less pain for the boar (this isn't a complicated question). There's a reason I don't bow hunt anymore. I understand the purpose of hunting an invasive species for the purpose of land management; I do not understand the purpose of making it more painful for the animal than it needs to be. Placating the "fairness" fantasies of people who will probably never hunt (though who hypocritically have no problem eating farmed meat) is not a very good reason. Hell, I'm even picky about the caliber I use; I've seen friends try to hunt boar with handguns, and I've seen friends who are not good enough to make a behind-the-ear shot try with an AR-15. It's inhumane to hunt an animal that hardy with a bullet that small. Also, if you think a spear or a bow is a "fair fight," you haven't thought about this much.

If you are a vegetarian, maybe you have an ethical point, and that's a big maybe. If not, you likely eat meat that wasn't given a "fair chance," unless you wrestle every cow you eat. Even if you are vegetarian, you eat meat from land where hunting was likely allowed for land management, and small animals died from the farm equipment used to gather your food. Did you shrink yourself down to the size of a rabbit and have a bare-knuckle fight every rabbit that died in the name of your food needs? I'm going to go out on a limb and say no.

I don't agree with what happened here because we are talking about a young animal, an endangered animal, a non-invasive animal, with no environmental justification, and one capable of significant conscious experiences. Naive fantasies about "fairness" don't play into it, though. There is no real logic behind such arguments.

Your link is an article written by a philosopher/ethicists who has cherry picked data to support his view and that of CAT’s founder who funded it.

There is graft and corruption in every industry. Do you propose ending welfare programs in the US because there is mismanagement and graft? I doubt it.

This is a controversial issue. There are facts and figures galore. One must apply logic and critical thinking to understanding them.

Since you brought up fake news and used an opinion piece disguised as science here are some articles from the most trusted sources warning of letting emotion triumph over reason.

A zygote, even a human one, is no more than spoonful of meiotic cells throughout the vast majority of any gestation. Until born, it is a potential human, no more an actual one than a cell from your ****, which could be turned into a duplicate of yourself if we had the machinery and will to do so.

You guys are constantly going on with this bs, getting all teary-eyed about "life" as long as it's inside another person, and thus able to give you power over them, but calling us "SJW" when we show any concern for actual walking-about children taken from their parents for the 'crime' of fleeing here for their lives from circumstances we originated.

So it would follow it would be ok to decimate the big five populations using abortion as opposed to poaching or trophy hunting. Is that correct?

I eat meat and don't regard it as hypocritical. Almost any domestic food animal lives a much longer and more comfortable life than it ever would in the wild, if, in fact, it would have a life at all. We provide food animals with food, shelter and protection. They give their lives to feed us instead of a wolf and their deaths are humane instead of being eaten alive. I can't help but think they would see it a fair bargain, if they could make deals.

Hunting is wrong because we are killing an animal that we have done nothing for. Hunting makes us parasites, not symbiotes.

So feeding and hunting game over bait would be more palatable to you? Would it surprise you to learn the most hunted species where I live are sustained by the same EXACT crops fed to domesticated food animals?

No, Why should we decimate the big five populations at all?

I do support that we put out food which makes deer sterile instead of hunting them. We could do something like that in areas where elephants are a problem .

I agree but that is an old-fashioned way of thinking that is nearly completely dead. On the other hand, inventing lies of WMD's, invading, raping, torturing, and murdering innocent men, women, and children seems to be on the rise. All you need to do to legitimize it is to claim it is in the interest of "Democracy". And then there is "bull-fighting" and "dog fights" and "cuck fights" .... and even "cat fights" that so many men think is exciting.
