I don't like being told what kind of toilet I can crap in !

I don't like being told what kind of light bulb I can use.

I don't like being told I have to wear a helmet.

I don't like being told I can't smoke on a deserted beach where there's no one with in a mile.

I don't like being told when I can and can not put a log in the fire place.

    I don't like being told I can't use a straw.

I don't like being told what kind of gun I can own to defend my family and home.

I don't like being told what kind of words I can speak.

I don't like being told how long of a shower I can take.

I don't like paying for stuff I don't use like bike lanes.

I don't like being told I can't wash my car in my own driveway.

I don't like having some illegal alien showing up at my door wanting to pick up my absentee ballot on election day.

    I don't like pressing #1 for English.

I don't like having the gas taxes I pay going for soccer fields.

I don't like paying $47.01 for a freaking fishing licence.

I don't like paying more money every year to register my car.

    I don't like a 10% sales tax.

I don't like people who drive electric cars who don't pay gas taxes to maintain the roads that aren't maintained.

I don't like being told I have to cut the balls off of my dog.

I don't like rainbow LGBT crosswalks.

I don't like being taxed for everything.

I don't like cow farts being taxed.

I don't like taco trucks sitting in front of my home.

I don't like cop killers being released from jails.

I will not like paying $50 for a background check to purchase a $2 box of .22 ammunition.

Do you need maybe a hundred more examples ?

Anyone else from California want to add on to the list ?

Have you actually looked up the definition of both? There are quite a bit of difference on many issues, and some commonality on others. I had no idea that libertarians were in favor of a certain amount of gov't interference in capitalism!! Are you sure you know what you are talking about? I don't think so if you see both of these things as exactly the same. For they are not the same. Look it up and get back with me if you want. .

While I am more of a classic liberal than anything else, it is seasoned with some progressivism, and even a bit of conservatism on particular issues. So I am in no way a purist, and I think purists are idiots. Just an opinion. And like FDR I believe in pragmatism. If you try something, and it fails, no matter what ideology it comes from, hell, try something else, no matter what ideology it comes from. Just as long as it isn't some crazy ideology.

Interesting list but more interesting how much is reveals about you. Everything is YOU not us. Sorry such selfishness and disregard of the environment/ humanity/ self-responsibility is why you are a Republican frustrated that you have virtually no influence whatsoever in California. You have voice but no power; pretty pathetic.

It's all about freedom of choice.

As far as I'm concern you can do anything you want as long as you don't get in my face.

But some need a nanny looking over them.

    The nanny state.

OK then next time you need help for whatever reason, the state of California should just ignore you. We are way overdue for a bad earthquake for example. If your house collapses on you and your family you prefer to handle the problem yourself I guess.

You asked him what freedoms he wanted and when he responded with what he wanted, you answer by castigating him for giving you the very answer you asked for.

This sounds like snark but is actually a serious question: Why should anyone at this point engage in any kind of discussion with you when you've not rebutted anything he said? I'm an independent and while I agree with most of his positions I could also make arguments against them. Is your position so untenable that your only actual arguments are personal insults?

You've been fined for crapping in a wrong toilet?
For using a wrong light bulb?
    Surely you jest.

What you personally like or dislike, is not infringing on your freedom or rights.
You don't get to make rules on what a crosswalk looks like. And what color a crosswalk is, has nothing to do with rights.

Good point and I must admit that the list was fun to read. Just a few thoughts:

We are required to have low flow toilets in order to save water; is that asking too much?

I don't think California is the only state requiring cyclists to wear helmets. No helmets for electric scooters but they need to get the speed down a little.

Smoking outside is quite restricted in any recreational areas because of climate conditions unique to California [periodic hot bone dry winds]. One cigarette can burst into a huge fire. Nobody wants the beach to be littered in butts [the kind you smoke]

Until plastic straws biodegrade we must go back to paper straws like we used in grade school. But if you don't care about ocean/ lakes than you will just go ahead and do what you want because that is "freedom".

I'm not going to review each point that Aracherat made but it boils down to the environment on most of the issues. Governor Reagan enacted strong environmental standards back in the 1960's; subsequent governors [many Republicans] have strengthen safeguards. Too bad today's GOP no longer rely on science but rather prefer to ignore and exploit resources.

You will have to address your own issues on your own.

Rather the brat who cares less for anyone but self. They've named a pathology for such antisocial behavior.

What do you call it? Resistance to anything you don't want to do? Go ahead and pee in the pool; that way you can have it all to yourself. :nerd:

Plainly, it's a matter of credibility. Republicans are so outnumbered in California because we don't want adolescent sociopathy. You can eat at the table with adults when you grow up.
