As you pointed out, whether the woman did work for any of the Trump entities is debatable, but if she did, and was fired when is was determined she was illegal, that wouldn't follow the talking point that Trump made his fortune on the back of illegals would it? Anyhow, if this story is true, I am pretty sure she was hand picked by Democratic propaganda operatives and has been carefully coached and groomed for maximum effectiveness in media exposure which they will see that she gets a lot of.

The thing I resent about these obviously political ploys to generate emotional response or give the media something else to use to trash somebody with--whether it is Democrats or Republicans doing it--is that it insults my intelligence. And that offends me.

But if you want to harp on feelings ---- do you have any "feelings" for the legal residents who could have gotten these jobs if they weren't being filled by illegals? Do you have any "feelings" for the people who jump thru all of the hoops to get green cards and/or become legal citizens, and then have to sit back while illegals (like those exposed in this story) cheat the system? What kind of a message do you think it sends to those here legally, to see an illegal who admitted to cheating the system being invited to the SOTU?

I agree but would revise and extend the thought that a criminal is someone who breaks the law in a way that endangers or harms others or requires involuntary risk/participation/contribution by others. If you break the law in a way that endangers neither yourself nor anybody else or requires no participation or contribution from anybody in any way, I have a hard time thinking of you as a criminal. If you jaywalk on a deserted street or run that stop sign when there is clear visibility in all directions and no oncoming traffic of any kind, where is the criminality? If you know you legitimately made a deductible purchase and lost the receipt but take the deduction anyway, that is against the law. But I have a really REALLY hard time seeing it as criminal.

Now those in the country illegally pretty much 99.99% KNOW they are in the country illegally, and they increase traffic, utilize public and/or private services, and too often take work from legal citizens even when they do not break the law in any other way. And all that requires involuntary participation and/or contribution or personal loss from others who otherwise would not be required to participate or contribute. Which makes it criminal.

 

This is a stupid pointless stunt that will have no impact whatsoever.

The large majority take more in social services than they contribute. And the job they have is likely one that a U.S. citizen doesn't have so that exacerbates the drain on resources and stability of a society.
