Of course. Canada is a major producer and might be model for Venezuela for how to run an oil industry.

Trump is the Bloviator-in-Chief I was talking about. Chavez, then Maduro so mismanaged the economy it's in shambles.

There is no attempt to get a coalition to oust Maduro. Your rant against Trump is childish and unnecessary.

No, we're talking about socialism, those are the principles of tyranny.

Ever notice how right wingers always bleat rhetoric when they're called on the fact that they literally don't know what they're talking about?

Nationalizing industries, confiscating land (“redistribution”), shutting down the free (opposition) media, etc.

Venezuela actually did the things leftists usually only dream of. And it was (of course) a disaster.

Venezuela used to do a passable job at running an oil industry before the Chavistas sacked or locked up pretty much everyone who knew a damn about doing it and replaced them with party hacks & military men. My bet is that these people are enriching themselves while their nation starves.

I am sure a future, democratic government could re-hire some of the people who knew what they were doing and hire others from outside. Sadly Maduro and the ruling clique are more interested in power and money than the good of their nation.

Well what do you know, the US believes it already owns Venezuela and has got social media to delete accounts of those loyal to their country.

Just look at that the accounts are deleted because they are afraid that the people want to influence other Venezuelans. Exactly how does Democracy act? When are those Venezuelans going to understand they have to bow to the U.S.A and give up all thought of being a Sovereign country, if they are to be allowed to express an opinion or facts - and get food - and avoid a US invasion.

Before Chavez most of the oil profits went to Venezuelan oligarchs. Hence one of the reasons for the barrios throughout most of the country. After Chavez the oil revenue funded social programs like healthcare, education, and housing. Extreme poverty, infant mortality, and unemployment was cut in half. GDP per capita rose from $4,105 to $10,801. Illiteracy was virtually eliminated.

Of course, there is. Trump is trying to get Marduro out and he's talking to other heads of state.
Trump's international weakness is front-and-center in the effort to oust Maduro. Personal attacks by you on yours truly won't obscure that fact.

You're going to generalize about leftists (communists? democratic socialists? Democrats? liberals? Just who are you talking about?) based on one person? Hohhh-Kayyyy....

What the Constitution of countries allow and what they do not allow is up to their own courts, not up to the US to decide. Isn't that colonialism?

So I gather you're advocating turning Venezuela into another Syria? That's okay, let the brown people kill themselves off like in the Middle East so we can retain our hegemony and hurt Russia and China.

So you are upset that the US and the EU agrees with them using their own constitution.

China invested billions in Venezuela and was helping them develop their oil industry. Russia was supplying them with arms to defend itself from the US and its minions, as well as helping them develop their agriculture for export. As for Venezuela's gold it was being sent to Turkey to be refined.

These are the things that freaked out Washington, I mean the last thing our embedded sociopaths would want is to have the country with the most oil in the world prosper and become self sufficient.
