There is war only because of Saudi intervention. There is a humanitarian crisis only because of Saudi bombing and blockading. This is basic **** man. You're just now learning this. You thought it was about pirates. Now you're reaching for some way to clear Saudi Arabia when its their war.
.... The Saudis held off for over a decade. How do you propose they stop the attacks coming out of Yemen?
Socialism is one of those catch-all labels that allows people to see the world in a simplistic, binary way. It's clear than many struggle to understand the difference between tyranny and socialism. But we do have an organized political/media effort to conflate the two.
It sounds like you are rationalizing undeclared war. You have convinced yourself that it's OK to kill innocent people if some requirements are met.
Capitalist countries dependent on oil survived the downturn in oil prices better than Venezuela. Norway (to the left of the U.S., and far to the right of Venezuela) survived the lower oil prices without a massive exodus of its population to Sweden. And it didn’t run out of hospital supplies or toilet paper.
Biden blasted Maduro for not accepting the humanitarian aid from Washington, even though a week before the Kurds under the direction of the US refused to allow aid from Assad to his own people in Syria - not to mention the civilians killed by the coalition's bombing. Here's a bit:
Norway's a very wealthy country that spent it's money wisely, but then again frugality and a sense of community rather than individualism is part of the Scandinavian culture. I recall in grade school a visit to a Swedish 'cooperative' super market at a time when there were no such things as supermarkets, only individual owners. Anyway I don't think colonizing a Scandinavian country and stealing their resources is in our playbook. As for South America, Africa and the Middle East, now that's a different story.
The downturn in oil prices were meant to destroy Russia, but it destroyed Venezuela and I think Nigeria as well but I'm not sure.
The dictatorship in Saudi Arabia was created and subsequently sustained by western money and technology. Without that money and technology, the Saudi "royal" family would be living inside a tent and riding around on camels.
It was believed by everyone that the US colluded with Saudi Arabia to drop the price of oil to hurt Russia and force a regime change. An extra bonus for Washington was that it hurt Iran and Venezuela as well. The article states the Saudis went along with it because of Syria, but I think they're wrong. The US wanted to hurt Putin because of Crimea and the Saudis saw it as an opportunity to destroy our shale industry - which it did at the time. Hurting Russia was easier said than done since it is an export nation rather than an import one, so when the Ruble dropped with the price of oil, the stronger currencies Russia received for its exports went far, so they survived. This is from Decenber 2014. “What is the reason for the United States and some U.S. allies wanting to drive down the price of oil?” Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro asked rhetorically in October. “To harm Russia.” Many believe the oil price plunge is the result of deliberate and well-planned collusion on the part of the United States and Saudi Arabia to punish Russia and Iran for supporting the murderous Assad regime in Syria. Oilprice.com looked beyond the headlines for the reason behind the oil price drop, and found that the explanation, while difficult to prove, may revolve around control of oil and gas in the Middle East and the weakening of Russia, Iran and Syria by flooding the market with cheap oil. Proponents of this theory point to a Sept. 11 meeting between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Saudi King Abdullah at his palace on the Red Sea. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, it was during that meeting that a deal was hammered out between Kerry and Abdullah. In it, the Saudis would support Syrian airstrikes against Islamic State (ISIS), in exchange for Washington backing the Saudis in toppling Assad. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Oil-Prices/Did-The-Saudis-And-The-US-Collude-In-Dropping-Oil-Prices.html
Not very far-fetched. Maybe the American collusion regarding Russia wasn't about Trump; it was with Saudi Arabia to hurt Russia.
The British drew the lines in the sand giving some Arab kings the wealth, and the others nothing. This way they knew the wealthier ones wouldn't want to unite with the poorer Arab states so they could maintain control. In Ireland the British gave beneficial trade deals to the North so they wouldn't want to unite with the South, and it's ironic that the divided island is coming back to haunt them now with the EU. Britain gave Cyprus beneficial trade deals so they wouldn't want to unite with Greece, and also aroused the Turkish minority as extra insurance. Anyway these are the policies we are now following. Break up countries into smaller factions to maintain control. Washington managed it with Yugoslavia but only partially with Russia. They failed to break Chechnya away as well as other parts - but they're trying. As for Syria, we don't know the end result yet and whether the US will manage to hold on to the rich oil area east of the Euphrates. I read the coalition killed 15 more civilians in a bombing raid in the East of Syria. Seems like ethnic cleansing to me.
Don't about Maduro being killed, that's not part of the CIA/MI6 playbook - or if it is, they're not successful at it. More than likely it's Guido that should watch his step. His assassination would be a great excuse for a US invasion. Then there's the possibility of paid snipers attending the protests today - so don't be surprised if some protesters get shot and the MSM blasts it all over the world.. It worked at Maidan in Ukraine as well as Syria and Washington has a habit of using the same methods to overthrow others ad nauseum.
