I bought it as a vacation rental because it's in the mountains right near a lake and close to ski areas. Hence the inflated cost.

You want the rich to pay more? Aren’t they job creators who already pay more?

And STILL you aren't affected by the SALT change. Amazing how the Dems/Liberals/Progressives sudden don't want to raise taxes on the highest earners and the most wealthy because it is Trump's idea. In California my house would probably go fore $400K.

Since you can't even explain what it is you are experiencing how can you claim you are like millions of others?

Well so far it seems you have a VERY bad accountant and would do better using your own computer program to file your taxes.

And what did he tell you when you asked him why your taxes were going up, what in the "tax cuts" made your tax liability go up?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, I will remember this the next time you attempt to debate anything about it, of course you already demonstrated that with you claims that a tax rate cut automatically means a cut in tax revenues claiming it was just a simple math equation and not as I point out an economics equation. But THANK YOU for letting us know you do NOT understand the tax system.

I'm not either but I know what is going on with taxes. It's a simple question, what about the "tax cuts" made your taxes go up and no you can't even explain that so you don't know how that compares with any other taxpayer.

    And since

You really don't have anything to add here.

ALL incomes benefitted especially those at the bottom who saw a doubling of the standard deduction and child care credit. They will make even MORE money off the tax system and you complain about it.

And you've yet to explain WHY you are paying more in taxes. Was it because you made more money? Would that be a bad thing?

And you admitted you don't understand the tax system so how can you claim only the rich benefited from the tax rate cuts? I DO understand it and assure you they weren't the only ones who benefitted.

You've given plenty of people reason to doubt your story because you are conflating separate things, the size of your refund and your effective tax rate. The size of your refund has NOTHING to do with your tax bite, and it seems you started this thread off with that misinformation and have not been able to make much headway in understanding it.

Do you think getting a higher refund just means you did better on taxes, you paid less?

Income Tax Revenues Are Up 9% This Year — Is Trump Tax Cut Paying For Itself?

"The latest monthly budget report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office finds that revenues from federal income taxes were $76 billion higher in the first half of this year, compared with the first half of 2017. That's a 9% jump, even though the lower income tax withholding schedules went into effect in February.

The CBO says the gain "largely reflects increases in wages and salaries."

For the fiscal year as a whole — which started last October — all federal revenues are up by $31 billion. That's a 1.2% in increase over last year, the CBO says....

Economists hiked their projections for growth this year once the tax cuts passed. The CBO changed its 2018 forecast from 2% before the tax cuts passed to 3.3% after they took effect. In that same report, the CBO admitted that this added growth would offset a significant chunk of the tax cuts.

Other Democratic big lies about the tax cuts continue to fall.

    • They called the tax cuts a giveaway to the rich. But the rich will end up paying a bigger share of income taxes because of the Trump tax plan.
    • They said workers wouldn't benefit, but millions got bonuses, raises, and improved benefits because of the corporate tax cuts. And real median household income is now at all-time highs.
    • Democrats also said that tax cuts would do nothing about the $2.9 trillion in profits that corporations had parked overseas.
In fact, corporations are bringing hundreds of billions of dollars in profits back as a direct result of changes in the corporate tax laws — 12% of the nearly $3 trillion held overseas came back to the U.S. in just the first three months of 2018. That will mean more economic growth and additional corporate revenues.

    It's the Spending, Stupid

Why should we ignore that the last time we had surpluses and paltry $161B deficits was due to tax rate cuts not tax rate increases?

And what specific to the "tax cuts" caused your tax liability to go up. If you made more money last year then your tax liabilty will go up, what's your complaint about earning more money?

Republican senators in those blue/purple states will now have a much harder time holding onto their seats in 2020 which could end up flipping the Senate to the Dems.

If that happens you will only have your own party to blame for motivating the Dem voters to turn out in higher numbers.

Got to wonder what happened to the conservatives who were whining that it was "their money" when they were demanding tax cuts for the wealthy?

Now suddenly conservatives have INCREASED taxes and they are applauding.

What will they say when they are on the receiving end of tax increases by the Dems?

No, we just need to INCREASE TAXES on the wealthy and ELIMINATE the special rates for capital gains.
