Not kidding at all they do just that. How do you think the income tax system has gotten so progressive that the top 1% pays 40% of income taxes and the top 10% pay over 90%?

One had nothing to with the other. The Dems/progressives/left wanted higher taxes on the top and that was one way to do it so they wouldn't be cutting their federal tax burden because they let the state tax them so high.

If you want to raise tax revenues then do like Gingrich and Kaisch did in 1996 and Bush43 did in 2001.

Two quarters at 3.1% is significant. The unemployment is about the best we have ever seen in the country and how strange you want to increase corporate taxes but then complain there is not enough capital investment.

Because it is income tax and that is how much of the income the top 1% controls. But of course they control even more than that, which is what truly makes it unfair.

For the most part the tax collections that support roads and sewage treatment ARE flat taxes, especially sewage treatment. Do you own a house or no?

If I owe you a higher percentage of my income, what do you owe me?

It is a deception that most people tell themselves because they only review their total income against their total tax liability when they file the taxes.

Your reply is insanely stupid. You don't anyone a thing. Far richer people pay more taxes than you ever will.

Boo Hoo! State property tax deductions are limited to the first $10,000. If you're middle class your property taxes don't even come close to going over that. I thought your side wants to tax the rich?

I will make some political assertions that I can't yet prove. I have never seen less excitement or interest in 'tax cuts' in all my years at either the federal or state level . For the first 40 years of my political memory, all candidates for office had to do was wave a 'tax cut' at voters and watch them swoon. Republicans could always count on a vote for tax cuts to work some magic Dems either have to vote yes, or they were screwed. This tax bill barely registered in midterms, and voters weren't even sure at passage whether they wanted it. Voters are more sophisticated and more cynical about these pie in the sky tax cuts. They are increasing uncomfortable with the huge deficits they provide, and with the income disparity that usually gets inflated. they wonder if it will impact people they love who are in need, or will this cut make it less likely that infrastructure projects won't get done, or will this mean fewer doctors will see Medicaid patients or fewer be able to get into a nursing home. Now more people are asking themselves are these potential consequences really worth the extra $220 bucks I am estimated to gain at the end of the year? Voters are thinking differently I think the GOP has dipped from this well too many times and voters are just not feeling it anymore.

So you owe nothing in return?
Just want to be a net taker from society?

Nope the top 1% only earns 20%. So how were the tax rate cuts were such a benefit for them and how did they screw the middle class which only pays about 10% of income taxes.

It's a tax that everyone has skin in the game on and eliminates ALL loops holes. Our current system of progressive tax, there are only a few that contribute for the many. Even European nations our liberal counterparts want to become have everyone contributing to the pool, unlike our current system.

Well, wages are up, and up nicely, inflation is not a problem.

Trump's been President for 753 days. Over that period, the growth in the Federal Debt is only up 5% over Obama's final 753 days, despite an increase in GDP of 70% over roughly the same period.

    https://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/d...tYear=2014&endMonth=02&endDay=12&endYear=2019

Great Job President Trump! We will take MORE of that, please!

What do you think of Cortez and the 70 Democrats plan, including many Democrat Presidential Candidates to kill all the cows? Did you know that we have a hundred million head of cattle in this country and that just over a hundred and fifty years ago, that we slaughtered the buffalo herds, which also numbered about a hundred million head?

The Great American Slaughter of The Buffalo

Cortez and the 70 Democrat Fools, including several Presidential Candidates, think that in addition to killing a hundred million cattle, that within 10 years -- all buildings in the country stripped down and retrofitted to make them energy efficient -- with what energy and with whose money, they don’t say. When pressed how they would pay for this, we were told: “We will finance the investments for the Green New Deal the same way we paid for the original New Deal, World War II, the bank bailouts, tax cuts for the rich, and decades of war -- with public money appropriated by Congress.”

Does Venezuela’s 80,000% inflation rate strike you as a cautionary tale against money printing? Has anyone on the Left that supports this nonsense have any clue about inflation and its causes and effects?

Why should Americans select this course being offered by the Left over Trump's proven track record of success and plans of a bright future of American Investment, bipartisan cooperation rebuilding America's infrastructure, space exploration, innovations and inventions, medical breakthroughs, and soaring prosperity?

No where in my post did I say people shouldnt pay taxes. I have no problems with that. I just believe in a progressive tax with no loop holes.

A person making 12,000 a year who has to pay 20% of their income to taxes is going to suffer. A person making 200k a year who has to pay 20% of their income will not. Its pretty simple.

They also scream about tariffs which tax goods produced by FOREIGN Corporations. They want high taxes on US corporations and ZERO taxes on foreign corporations.

I guess in their intersectional world, the American Worker is beneath their contempt.

But MAN do they love SOCIALISM!

Even in barrios once devoted to Hugo Chavez, murmurs of opposition grow in Venezuela.

Socialism is popular until the other people’s money runs out.

So which of the Democrat Presidential Contenders that signed on to Cortez Green Manifesto, do you think will get the coveted Madura endorsement?

Still intent on making this 'tax code' thing a strictly partisan issue? Return with me in time to Comrade Obama's first two years in office. He had a Democrat-controlled Congress -- a kid in a candy store, with nobody to tell him 'no'. So did what did "Messiah" Obama do about the U. S. Tax Code? Nothing? But go ahead and try to sugar-coat the Democrat Party's willingness to leave a monstrously unfair tax system in place. Truth? The Democrats are just as "dirty" as Repubicans when it comes to who-actually-pays-what when it comes to TAXES.

Think: Obama had plenty of time to ram Obamacare down our throats, but did he dirty his messianic fingers by messing around with the U. S. Tax Code...? :roflol:

Then you are in agreement that our current progressive tax system doesn't work as intended since considering nearly half of our nation pay no are are net receivers of tax benefits?

I could be on board with a hybrid progressive system. Like a 3 tiered tax system with no loopholes but everyone gets to contribute.
