Immigration has very little to do with the actual facts of the matter. The Wall is meant to be largely symbolic, a giant badge of American xenophobia triumphant, showing the entire world that we now only tolerate the Master Race here. Should it ever be built the next project will be to melt down the Statue of Liberty to replace it with a giant golden swastika.
