I'm inclined to generally agree and that was part of the argument I referenced above by one of the early designers. But (unless I'm conflating things) his main point was that too many greedy hands were in the cookie jar and no one cared a damn about the aircraft's overall performance because the cash till's were going ding! ding! ding!
I've been in one of them thar F-111's. As I recall it had a very bad press throughout its life. Not quite a deadly as the F-104 Starfighter that kept killing its pilots as I remember.
Yep, and guess what...we've just signed a contract with France for them to build us 12 submarines at the cost of 50 billion dollars...joy oh joy....not sure if any Australian politicians get free holidays on the French rivieria together with hot and cold running blondes...now that doesnt happen...does it....anyone got a statue of liberty, or maybe the eiffel tower to sell.....we'll buy it.......pft... Btw..the last of the subs dont arrive until....wait for it....2050...thats 30 years...the guys to crew the subs havent even been born yet...... Sorry for going off topic....
