There is a reason why Trump engages in controversial, unpopular policies. He wants to keep discussions away from even worse news. Such as:

Trump asked then-acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker if a US attorney he appointed could oversee an investigation tied to himself after the US attorney in question had already recused himself from the probe, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

The Times report cited several US officials with direct knowledge of the call that the paper said occurred late last year. The Times said there was no evidence Whitaker took steps to intervene in the investigation.

If the Times report is accurate, this is a clear case of an attempt of obstruction of justice.

    Then matters got worse.

Former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe told NBC's "Today" show on Tuesday that he briefed congressional leaders about the counterintelligence investigation he had opened into Trump's activities and statements. McCabe informed Savannah Guthrie of this when she had asked if he had informed the "Gang of Eight" bipartisan group of leaders on the Hill.

The purpose of the briefing in 2017 was to let the congressional leadership, including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, then-House Speaker Paul Ryan and their Democratic counterparts, know what the FBI was doing in the probe into Russian election interference and possible collusion by the Trump campaign, McCabe said.

"No one objected. Not on legal grounds, not on constitutional grounds and not based on the facts," McCabe said, adding, "That's the important part here."

NBC News reached out to the congressional leaders for comment on McCabe's remarks, including McConnell, Ryan, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C., and panel Vice Chairman Mark Warner, D-Virginia. They refused to comment.

Trump has argued that McCabe is a liar -- the pot calling the kettle black? -- and that he is fabricating all this, and that he is not the subject of the FBI investigation. In view of McCabe's revelations, that is hardly possible. McCabe informed the leaders of Congress, including Republican leadership, as to what he was doing.

    You are lying.

I am a Republican. I am also a Marine officer (ret.). Mattis, too, is a Marine.

Now don't you look foolish. That is what happens when one lies.

Which says nothing about the rat in the Oval Office. You quoted the OP. It detailed Trump's incompetence. Typically, you failed to challenge anything I said.

I can only take that to mean you are in agreement with what I said, perhaps, reluctantly.

Trump's fans keep putting the cart before the horse. Are Mueller and the media making life for Trump and his associates a living hell because they are competent and doing a great job? Or, is the Trump White House totally incompetent, wrong policies at the wrong time, Trump a pathological liar, Trump probably guilty of conspiracy and obstruction, and that is why Mueller and the media make life a living hell for Trump and his associates?

The answer lies in the OP.

The answer lies in the fact that Trump's fans, like garyd here, can't defend him.

I see, so none of them were concerned about when they will receive their next paycheck or concerned about their financial obligations. All the people you know viewed this as a vacation, or at worse, a minor "inconvenience."

During the longest government shutdown in American history, does that make sense to you? It doesn't to me, or anyone else for that matter. I was listening to what those Americans were saying while the shutdown was happening. Apparently, you were not.

I wish to thank you for engaging in some of the points I made in the OP. I wish more of Trump supporters would do that. But, they don't. Instead, they tee off on me for telling the truth.

That said, now I will tear your arguments apart.

The working agreement with Iran that Trump trashed permanently barred Iran from a making nuke. It was not about terrorism. It was nuclear agreement. Now there is no such agreement, and Iran is free to copy the U.S. and withdraw from JCPOA. She then will be free to resume her nuclear activities. You think that is smart?

Syria announced at the global climate talks in Bonn, Germany, this week that it will sign the landmark Paris climate agreement, joining nearly 200 countries that already support the 2015 deal. Following this announcement came nearly universal outcry that Syria’s actions will leave the United States as the only country in the world not part of a global climate accord, which commits countries to ramping up action on greenhouse gas emissions.
https://www.motherjones.com/environ...-the-only-country-not-in-the-paris-agreement/ You think that is smart?

There are no pluses for ceding Syria to Russia and Iran. If there are, please tell me what they are. However, according to you, Trump doesn't go far enough. Our EU allies need Mideast oil, but you want us out of the entire Mideast. You want to give control of Mideast oil to Russia and Iran. You think that is smart?

You seem to have a lot of sympathy for Russia and Iran. Why is that?

Here are some replies to my article. All of them are from Trump fans.

They probably all voted for Trump. :roflol::roll:

They can't even begin to understand the issues contained in the article. Typically, they avoided the issues ... all of them.

The difference between you and me is that I blame the democrats, specifically Pelosi, just as much as Trump. The whole issue is nothing more than politics to the democrats.

You have never answered my questions. What new technology suddenly made walls obsolete? How are sensors and 21st Century technology going to catch someone illegally crossing the border?

Ethics watchdog refuses to certify financial disclosure from Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross

    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/20/us-...-wilbur-ross-financial-disclosure-report.html

"The government's top ethics watchdog disclosed Tuesday that it had refused to certify a financial disclosure report from Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

In a filing, the Office of Government Ethics said it wouldn't certify the 2018 annual filing by Ross because he didn't divest stock in a bank despite stating otherwise. The move could have legal ramifications for Ross and add to pressure for a federal probe."

In CA, we have to register our party affiliation, but I don't have to prove myself to you.

On the other hand, once again you prove that Trump and and his followers can't handle reality. Instead, they avoid reality, provide a false reality as you do time and time again, tee off on the writer who dares to write reality, and/or try to change the subject.

You never deal with the actual issues contained in a post critical of Trump. You never defend Trump from the criticism.

Why do you support Trump? Do you really even know? That question can be asked of most Trump fans. They do exactly what you do.

For what? Do you know? Probably not.

McCabe was fired for "misleading investigators." He was fired for "being less than candid." "Misleading investigators" and "being less than candid?" What a joke. Trump wanted him fired and McCabe was fired.

Comey was investigating Mike Flynn and the deal he made with the Russians while a private citizen and a member of Trump's transition team. Trump wanted Comey to drop the investigation of the Russian connection. Comey didn't. Comey was fired.

McCabe began an investigation of Trump because there was a possibility the President was an agent of the Russian government. Trump vehemently opposed that investigation. McCabe was fired.

A FBI director was investigating a possible connection between Trump and the Russian government. He was fired by Trump. An acting FBI director was investigating a possible connection between Trump and the Russian government. He was fired by Trump.

One doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to see there is a connection. It isn't rocket science to assert there is obstruction of justice here.

Well, it seems like all those specialist just wasn't getting the job done were they? I mean, look at Obama's economy. Over 90% were service and part time jobs. Over 300,00 manufacturing jobs lost and millions on food stamps and welfare.

Then you had his handling of the Middle East and ISIS growing from about 700 to between 25,000 -32,000 army. Millions of Muslim refugees invading Europe, which will never be the same again.

Our veterans were dying trying to get good and timely care from the V.A. That is no longer the case.

Then we had 70-75% of our Navy and Marine Fighter jets grounded along with 75% of Marine heavy helicopters. We had submarines out of service up to 4 years and our carriers having longer overhauls.

The last two administrations tried to get NATO to put more money in it's defense, without any success. Trump got it done.

Obama's last words to Trump was that N. Korea would be America's biggest problem and today we're having peace talks with them.

Trump is getting many of our trading partners to renegotiate new trade deal, we couldn't do before.

Could it be that many of these people aren't use to how Trump handle things and it's not like it's ever been done before so they either quit or get fired. but so far, the proof is in the pudding. Trump is getting it done when it couldn't be done before.

I don't know - could it be because we were just wrapping up two long wars (neither of which Obama started) that military equipment needed repairs. Only idiots wouldn't recognize that issue. And because of those wars, we suddenly had a flood of injuries and PTSD cases? Trump walks in and is handed a silver spoon on the economy and the wars.

As for No. Korea? Nothing has changed. North Korea STILL has WMDs and no plans to get rid of them.

AND we are much closer to war with China than we have been in 30 years.

We just lost our Nuclear Treaty with Russia and Putin is threatening war over a weakened NATO.

So I'm going to call bullcrap on the bulk of your post.

EVERY President negotiated trade deals. Trump isn't special.

There is just one reason you love McCabe.

You are firmly convinced he hates Trump so you are now in favor of McCabe.

Obstruction takes a lot more than merely you to make the case. I want your evidence. But like most Trump haters, you refuse to offer any at all.

ISIS should have never grown to the large Army they became under Obama. There were only approximately 700 left when Bush left office. Iraq asked for air power when they first came down from Syria and Obama refused, called them Jr. Varsity acting like soldiers. Up till his last year in office when he finally got serious, he blocked 75% of the air strikes. Didn't want to kill innocent civilians. Well by allowing ISIS to grow like he did, tens of thousands were killed and millions left homeless. Europe is in a mess and will never be the same again. That war went on years longer than it needed to.

Yes, things have changed. We got prisoners released Obama couldn't. Got bodies of our Korean soldiers back. No missiles are flying over our Allies and we are talking peace instead of N. Korea threatening to nuke us.

China is a big problem. They are sinking lots of money into their military and want to cut off passage by their man made island in the South China Sea.

NATO was weak, very weak, which is why Trump wanted them to build up their military. Obama couldn't get them to, but Trump has. I'm sure not as much as he wants them to.

We cancelled the nuclear treaty with Russia. They have been violating it for years. Maybe now we can gt them to play honest if they want to renew it.

Obama said when he was running for President he would renegotiate NAFTA, then changed his mijnd after being elected. Just one of many promises he made and never kept.

I would say I wasn't wrong at all.
