Why should anyone apologize (except of course the individuals involved in or knowledgeable about the incident)? Should people claiming to be victims of assault be forced to prove that the assault actually occurred before believing them and investigating the crime? Sorry, but that is ridiculous. If true, this was a few people involved in a hoax, not an entire political party; and the people involved are the only people that should be held responsible. To hold 2/3 of the country responsible is bizarre and no different than holding every Trump supporter responsible if it had actually happened and not been a hoax. There are enough real things to bitch about; why do people make things into what they aren't just for another reason to bitch and whine? The incident was handled correctly. It is being investigated, and when the investigation is completed the responsible parties will be brought to justice. I would think everyone would be relieved that this didn't really happen. I would much rather believe a few misguided individuals had the bad judgement to perpetrate this hoax to prove a point than to believe there are horrible bigoted racists running about perpetrating hate crimes based on ethnicity and sexual preference. The motivation for the latter is much more frightening.

 

Might want to get your facts straight. Hip hop culture invented the term... EI, black people. The only people I've ever heard utter the word are also, black people. Mostly in movies, comedy specials, ect. Maybe heard it once in person.

Nobody "knew" anything until the incident was investigated. All accusations involving physical violence against an individual must be investigated as though the accuser were telling the truth. Conclusions should not be predicted or acted upon prior to the completion of the investigation. The days of blaming the victim for being attacked are long past. I still remember the dark days when rape victims were blamed due to their looks, clothing, lifestyle, etc. Due to preconceptions, rapists were allowed to carry on with their lives while their victim's were demonized and their lives were destroyed. We cannot return to a time when victims of violent assault are afraid to report crimes perpetrated against them. I'm sure that the number of "fake" attacks reported is negligible compared to those that actually do occur.

 

I could really care less about black culture, but facts are facts.
